Let's hear it for Tereza! She's 17 years old (born in November 1990). According to her ITF file, she was born in Pula but lives in Porec.

She reached her highest rank so far in May 2007, at #738. After that she didn't play for almost a year, until April of this yar (school?) so she lost her ranking.

She's now back in action and seems to be playing well. Last month, she reached the SF at the $10K in Mostar and the final at the $10K in Budva. This week, she's playing at the $10K in Torino. She qualified easily, winning both her qualie matches 60 60. The best part is that yesterday in the main draw, she won her first-round match against the #2 seed, Maria Irigoyen (#251 in the world), very easily: 61 61. Very impressive! Given that result, her next match, against Nancy Rustignoli (#819; never heard of her), should be very winnable.

With her first-round win yesterday, she'll be able to re-enter the rankings at around 860. Hopefully she'll keep winning this week and move up even higher than that.

Best of luck, Tereza!

After dropping from a CH ranking of 279 in Feb. 2010 to a current #783, Tereza is back in action (she hasn't played since last July). She's the #1 seed in qualies at next week's $10K in Spain.

She got a bye in QR1 and in QR2 she'll play either of two unranked players, De Groot or Marinescu.

Best of luck to Tereza on her comeback. She's much too talented to let her career go to waste!

Tereza passed her first test; she beat Marinescu 62 61. It's not much, considering Marinescu is unranked, but after being out of action for so long, I'm sure Tereza is happy with the win.

In FQR she plays Simona Dobra (#1006 but CH#514). Good luck, Tereza!

In FQR, Tereza beat Dobra, the #10 seed, 64 62. Again, I'm sure she's happy to have gotten the win.

She's now back in her first MD since last July. She got lucky with the draw and in R1 she plays a 16-yo unranked local WC, Sorribes Tormo. Good luck, Tereza. Get your MD win!

Sara is actually only 14-yo and in the last month she has won a Grade 3 in the juniors U18 and reached semis of $10K Madrid beating a couple of top 400 players.

$10K Torrent, R1: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Sara SORRIBES TORMO (ESP) 6-4 6-3 :yeah:

Seemingly without much drama. Even if it's only 1 point, it's nice to see Tereza win a MD match again, for the first time since last July.

She also got a break when the seed in her section, #5 Papamichail, lost her R1 match. In R2, Tereza will instead be playing Lucia CERVERA-VAZQUEZ, who's one of the lowest-ranked players to get direct entry into the MD (#645, CH#570). This is a good chance for Tereza to reach her first QF since August 2009.

Good luck, Tereza, and congratulations on today's win!

$10K Torrent, R2: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Lucia CERVERA-VAZQUEZ (ESP) 7-5 6-0

This is a nice win for Tereza during her comeback phase, as her opponent is ranked in the 6oos.

Unfortunately, in the QF Tereza faces the top seed, Victoria Larriere (#356). Regardless of what happens, though, Tereza must consider this a good tournament for her. She has won more matches this week (4) than in the previous 14 months!!!

Tereza beat the top seed in straights:

$10K Torrent, QF: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Victoria LARRIERE (FRA) (1) 7-5 7-5 :aparty:

Congratulations to Tereza. She should be very encouraged by this result at her comeback tournament.

In the SF she plays the #7 seed, MUGURUZA BLANCO (542 but CH 395). Good luck, Tereza!

Tereza is playing again in Spain this week, at the $10K Vic. She got a good draw. In R1 she plays a qualifier. The winner of that will play either the #8 seed, Sanduska, or a local unranked WC.
Tereza plays the #8 seed from qualies, Csilla Argyelan (1027 and CH only 923). If Tereza plays like she did last week, this match should be no problem for her.

$10K Vic, R1: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Csilla ARGYELAN (HUN) 6-3 6-3 :yeah:

Closer than I expected but at least Tereza is through to R2. There she'll play the #8 seed, Sanduska, as expected.

Whowever wins will have an excellent shot at the SF, as they'll play either of two qualifiers, both ranked in the 900s.

Good luck, Tereza!

$10K Vic, R2: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Patrycja SANDUSKA (POL) (8) 6-1 1-6 6-3 :bounce:

It's looking like Tereza's comeback is for real!

In the QF she plays Dobra. Tereza beat her in straights last week so this is an excellent chance to get into the semis. Good luck, Tereza!

$10K Vic, QF: Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) defeated Simona DOBRA (CZE) 6-3 4-6 6-4 :bounce:

The score was much closer than when they played last week, and than expected, but at least Tereza won. This is her second SF in two weeks :yeah:

So far Tereza's W-L record in 2011 is 8-1. Yes, it's only $10Ks (including qualies last week) but given her atrocious 2010, Tereza must be pleased with the way her comeback is going.

In the SF she plays the #5 seed, Papamichail (#505, CH #503 just last month and top 50 junior last year).

Good luck to her. Papamichail won't roll over but Tereza can win this!

Mrdeza def. (1) Buyukakcay 6:2, 6:0:eek:...:bounce:

Judging by the stats, Tereza's return game was great and seems that her opponent had quite a bit of trouble on serve (4 df's etc.). I don't know when was the last time Tereza beat someone ranked so high (162...did she ever beat someone ranked so high:confused:), but it sure is great to see the scoreline. Her confidence probably got an aditional boost after this as well. It'll be interesting to see how she does in the next match after such a big win.

Great job Tereza:worship:
