Re: 2013 Fed Cup News & Pics - USA Names Team That Have Never Contested Singles Rubbe

Yeah I know that Melanie always steps up for Fed Cup but this is a little strange. I guess MJF figured she was a team player and would be glad to take a spot last minute, has the experience, and can add a lot to the US team. Keys is unexperienced but it would have been nice to have a fresh face play :awww:

Anyway she probably won't even play, or possibly only one singles, but best of luck USA!! :cheer:

Stephens thinks she's too good for Fed Cup.

Hopefully she gets absolutely destroyed in Doha (99% chance of occurrence given the stacked field there).

You folks act like the US were guaranteed a win by fielding Sloane, Sloane has never won FC singles match, has she? Just because she beat an injured opponent at the AO, all over sudden she's the leading lady at FC. As some1 mentioned here Doha is stacked let's see Sloane reach the finals & potentially win it, then we can talk, the next big thing

She has never played a singles rubber. She played one doubles match last year against Ukraine

Thanks for the link, everybody.

Abdominal strain. Hope it isn't a longstanding condition. I remember when Venus had that problem. Not good.

Wish I could fly out to Rimini, to see the competition and for old-times' sake, since I lived there as a lowly teenager.

I never expected Venus and Serena to play, nor did I expect the U.S. to win, so...it's all good. I do hope we get a stream, though. :worried:

France vs Germany would probably be the most exciting team competition this year, and they are both in world group II play-off, plus Marion is playing :hearts:

Too bad only one team can win and delegate to the world group. I hope it will be Germany.

Re: 2013 Fed Cup News & Pics-Sloane,SAISAI,Angie,Serena Z OUT

Jankovic is out of the Fed Cup this weekend and Ivanovic's decision will come on Thursday

Unfortunately, we can not count on Jelena in this tie - slowly explained coach Vranes. - The doctors advised her to rest completely until Friday, because the scar is still very sensitive. This means that the racket in hand could take just a day before the match, and when we know that she couldn;t practice three weeks because injury, then it is clear why we want to spare her any risks. Jeca always played for the national team even when she was injured, but now it's really a completely inhuman that at such a difficult injury exhibit an even greater danger.

Another dilemma is still up in the air, and a shoulder injury to Ana Ivanovic who is still in Belgrade therapies.
Does this mean that it is open to question, and her participation in this match?
- Ana and her team are doing their best to try to repair the shoulder injury that pulls back from Australia - once again finds helmsman Serbian lady. - Her form in the ascending line and feel good, but there is pain in the service and on the forehand and backhand when you reached out. In Belgrade on therapy and training, so that we all hope he will still be able to recover and lead reprezentaicju in Nis awkward encounter with Slovakians.

So, we now effectively play with 3 players, and maybe even two, while a healthy player who could bring us a point in the doubles is sitting out. :tape:
Brilliant decision making from Vranes as per usual. :worship: :worship::worship:
