Adrijana Lekaj is playing at a G2 in Peru this week and is through to the QF:

Inka Bowl 2012
R1: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) BYE
R2: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) defeated Andressa Cristina SOUZA (BRA) 7-5 6-3
R3: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) defeated Ana Victoria GOBBI MONLLAU (ARG) 6-0 6-0
QF: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) Vs Maria Ines DEHEZA (BOL) (3)

Good tournament for Adrijana. She'll move to a new CH ranking next week.

Do any of you know much about Ena Kajevic? She's in the QF of Radenci (G4) as a qualifier:

Radenci 2012
QR1: Ena KAJEVIC (CRO) defeated Carmen SCHAUER (AUT) 6-2 6-4
QR2: Ena KAJEVIC (CRO) defeated Julija JAUK (SLO) (3) 6-4 6-1
QR3: Ena KAJEVIC (CRO) defeated Bojana MARINKOVIC (SRB) (8) 6-4 6-3
R1: Ena KAJEVIC (CRO) defeated Sara PALCIC (SLO) 7-6(7) 6-1
R2: Ena KAJEVIC (CRO) defeated Deborah CHIESA (ITA) (2) 7-6(5) 6-2
QF: Rebecca SRAMKOVA (SVK) (7) Vs Ena KAJEVIC (CRO)

Ena is unranked. This is only her third tournament ever (also Perin 2010 and Perin 2011, as a WC; Perin is G1).

Notice that in R2 this week she beat the #2 seed, who is ranked #271, in straights. That's a very promising result. Let's hope it wasn't a fluke.

Jana Fett (#280) played in the Tunisia G2 this week.

In singles she reached the QF after beating the world #71 in R1. In doubles she reached the SF.

She'll rise to a new CH ranking of ~225-230. Congratulations!

Among Croats she'll remain #4, after Vekic/Mekovec/Lekaj.

Let's not forget about Jana Fett--she too has been moving up the rankings fast (btw, she's four months younger than Donna).

Last week at a G2 she reached the QF in both singles (lost to the top seed in three) and doubles. As a result, this week she moved up 35 spots, from 229 to 194. First time in the top 200!

Here is short, quick translation:

Karlovac born Adrijana Lekaj junior champion of Croatia in tennis

Member of tennis club Karlovac Adrijana Lekaj, after excellent start of season and great appearances at 4 ITF tournaments in South America, confirmed her great form also on home soil at national junior championships which took place in Zagreb national tennis center.
With 5 wins she showed that she is currently best young croatian player and deservedly won title.

After 3 easy wins (def. Jeresic 62 60, def. Jandric 62 61, def. Jurasic 75 61), her toughest "job" was in the SF in exciting match against first seed Ana Konjuh.
Adrijana won first set 62, then lost second set 36 and then in especially interesting third set she won in TB by 14:12!

In the final it was without major problems, she beat Ena Babic 60 63.

Bernarda Pera (b. 1994) is playing this week at a G2 in Italy.

In R32 she destroyed Tina Bokhua, #329 junior in the world, 60 61. Then in R16 she demolished Storm Sanders, #109 and #5 seed, 63 60

Also, Bernarda is into the doubles SF.

With these results she'll move up in the rankings from 274 to ~200 :yeah: And that's with just two tournaments

^ Me too

That said, it's better that she be winning :)

She and partner lost in doubles SF 11-9 in the match TB to the #2 seeds but, more importantly, she won in singles QF. In the SF she plays a Q, so she has a decent shot at her second G1 or G2 final in a row.

Good luck!

Bernarda Pera won this week's G2 in Italy. She was pretty impressive, losing only 14 games in 5 matches:

1st round: Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-0 6-1 Tina BOKHUA (RUS)
2nd Round: Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-3 6-0 Storm SANDERS (AUS) [5]
Quarterfinal: Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-3 6-2 Beatrice LOMBARDO (ITA)
Semifinal: Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-1 6-0 Valeria PROSPERI (ITA)
Final: Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-3 6-1 Ivana JOROVIC (SRB) [7]

In one tournament, Bernarda will cut her ranking almost exactly in half, from 274 to ~135-140

What's most impressive is that she'll be in the top 150 after only four "events" (ie, singles and doubles at two tournaments). There are no players ranked higher than her with fewer events.

Also, she's undefeated in singles this year: she has won all 11 matches she has played :yeah:

Bernarda cut her ranking exactly in half: from 274 to 137 (up 137 spots) :worship:

Make that 12, as she won again today.

Bernarda's ranking will rise again next week, from 137 to around 120.

^ Bernarda got an SE into the Italian G1 :yeah: In R1 she plays an unseeded player, Okuno. The winner gets the #13 seed, Anastasiya Saitova.

Also in the draw are Ena Kajevic (who got doubly lucky: LL into the MD, and in R1 plays a local WC), Ana Konjuh and Adrijana Lekaj.

Good luck, Croatian girls!

#17 ·
Kajevic lost but the other three won easily :yeah:

Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) 6-2 6-1 Marina MARGULIS (RUS)
In R2 plays world #72 Peterson

Bernarda PERA (CRO) 6-1 6-0 Ayaka OKUNO (JPN)
In R2 plays world #75 Saitova

Ana KONJUH (CRO) 6-3 6-1 Sara CASTELLANO (ITA)
In R2 plays world #83 Benoit

All three avoided any of the top ten seeds in R2. Now good luck to them!

If I'm not mistaken, next week there'll be *five* Croats among the top 100 junior girls   Has there ever been than many?!?

1. Konjuh: ~40, or ~35 if she wins the doubles final
2. Mekovec: ~55
3. Lekaj: ~65 (or ~40 if she wins the doubles final and is the singles runner up)
4. Vekic: ~85
5. Pera: ~95

#26 ·
Bernarda Pera is into the SF at this week's $10K Sarajevo :cheer:

R1: def. [6] Azra HADZIC 62 64
R2: def. Ivana KLEPIC 62 64
QF: def. [2] Cristina DINU 63 64

Very good tournament for Bernarda, with straight-set wins over two seeded players: Hadzic, who is #621, and Dinu, #324.

In the SF she plays a qualifier, Babic, an unranked Q.

Good luck, Bernarda!

^ And another Croatian junior won the doubles:

R1: Barbara BONIC (SRB) / Neda KOPRCINA (CRO) BYE
QF: Barbara BONIC (SRB) / Neda KOPRCINA (CRO) 7-5 6-3 Vaszilisza BULGAKOVA (HUN) / Raluca Elena PLATON (ROU) [2]
SF: Barbara BONIC (SRB) / Neda KOPRCINA (CRO) 6-0 6-2 Mariana DRAZIC (CRO) / Azra HADZIC (AUS)
F: Barbara BONIC (SRB) / Neda KOPRCINA (CRO) 2-6 7-5 [10-8] Dagmara BASKOVA (SVK) / Tereza MALIKOVA (CZE)

Like Konjuh, Adrijana Lekaj is also into the QF at G1 Offenbach:

R64: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) 6-1 6-4 Renata ZARAZUA (MEX)
R32: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) 7-6(3) 1-0 Retired Maria Ines DEHEZA (BOL) [2]
R16: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) 6-3 4-6 6-1 Ioana DUCU (ROU)

In the QF she plays Razafimahatratra. Good luck, Adrijana!

Next week, Adrijana will move up to a new CH ranking of ~60, at least. Congrats!

#31 ·
Lekaj reached the $10K Solin QF--but she's not the only Croatian junior to do so:

R1: Bernarda PERA (CRO) def. Fiona FERRO (FRA) 76(3) 57 60
R2: Bernarda PERA (CRO) def. Katarzyna KAWA (POL) [2] 61 62

Ferro is a very promising junior (15 and ranked in the top 100).
Bernarda then destroyed Kawa, who's 2 years older and world #407  Excellent win!
