Mayya Katsitadze
Dob: Mar. 21, 1995

Time to recognize this up and coming player? Unranked in 2011, Mayya reached her current high ranking of 448, after two stellar tournaments in August.

First, she reached the final of the 25K Moscow as a wild card, upsetting the 2 & 3 seeds before falling to a resurgent Yulia Kalabina, who was entered as a qualifier, 63 36 46.

She followed that up with a quarterfinal appearance at the 50KH Kazan, where she was entered as a qualifier. She upset Arina Rodionova, before falling to Tara Moore, 57 26.

Now entered in the Tashkent Open qualies as a wild card, she upset Ekaterina Yashina, 76(4) 64! She now faces #8 Ekaterina Bychova in the second round.

Katya proved to be too tough, and Mayya lost to her, 57 57. Looks like Mayya needs to beef up her first serve, and play the big points better. 0/5 on saving break points, while Katya was 11/14.

75K Barnstaple qualies.

Mayya, the #2 seed, advanced to the main draw after defeating #5 Amy Bowtell, 75 63. She unfortunately drew #2 Nina Bratchikova, but fought well, going down 57 26.

Looks like 25K Minsk qualies is next.
