Another less than convincing result (I'm talkin' about the 2nd set, of course), but the important thing is that she's through. Great chance to reach the semis and get 24 wonderful points. Don't blow this Jasmina. Good luck!
CONGRATULATIONS JASMINA!!! Beating Kozlova in straights was nice, but beating the top seed (currently #226) and a former world number 66 is something else! Sure, luck obviously played a role here (looking at two tie-breaks), but this is still a phenomenal result for Jasmina. Now Wimbledon qualies seem even more possible!
Really great result. I always had a feeling she would rule these 25k's if she would played them, but in the past she was always trying on bigger tournaments.
Great week :yeah:
Just to add - nice to see that we have such a gutsy player, who can control the match when it really matters (I assume this based on the way the finals went; she won two tie-breaks and the match in the end, even with losing the second set pretty badly).
Yup, I'd say in a matter of weeks. Next up for her is Casablanca 25k next week. Hope she shows a very high level there and takes away a bucket of points. Currently she's still on the quali list there, but I imagine she'll get into the MD in the days to come.
Something strange with the Casablanca list - Jasmina not on the one for qualies, not on the one for main draw and not among those who have withdrawn Maybe she got a MD WC or something...
Well... this thread should be moved to the "rest of the world" thread then.
Well, happy for her. It's her decision and anyway a good strenghtening for the Bosnian Fed Cup team as it seems Jugić-Salkić and Martinović are not that good anymore.
It's possible that she is part Croatian, like many people from Bosnia (just like many have Serbian roots), but I really don't know for sure. But, as is usually the case in professional sport, this probably has more to do with who offers you better working conditions, and looks like Bosnians made some extra effort. Good for them. It was about time they start capitalising on their own talents. Good luck Jasmina!
Dea Herdzelas yesterday also won a doubles title in Avignon, France, partnering Voroboja, after a forfit from Konjuh and Ostapenko who they were supposed to be playing against in the final.
And Jasmina Tinjic today beat Milana Spremo from Serbia 6:1 6:1 and placed herself in the second qualification rounds of the CHallenger in Cunea (worth 100 000$), where she will meet Simona Cappoccia from Italy
