Alexandra is a former Top 10 junior who's been left in the dust as her contemporaries, Victoria, Caroline, Aga and Agnes have made their names on the WTA tour.
Now, Alexandra seems to want to make her own noise. She just lost out on winning her 2nd (and by far biggest) title at the 75K hardcourt in Monzon. She is now within the Top 250 and warrants her own cheering thread!
She'll face Medina Garrigues in the first round. Hopefully Medina continues her bad form (she has yet to win a match in 2013). But in the second round, she'll be up against Zakopalova. Mission: Impossible
she has no MD wins, but she has had a few qualifying wins, most notably against pironkova, and her form isn't as bad as it looks on paper. i agree it is a nice draw, but if she beats AIMG then i can see her beating kookie. doubt she wins either, but still...
Is it just me or does AMG seem to play a Romanian every second tournament she enters since last year?
Anyway, this is going to be a 2 hour+ match and both had their biggest success on Hard on this particular surface in Miami which is not really surprising.
AMG is the worst opponent for someone not fit well enough for playing more than one match at full capacities. But if Alex wins this first round match she will get 50p
