Seeing as the QLD State Tennis Centre is due for completion later in the year, I thought I would start a thread for it, as it is the biggest development since the construction of the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre.

When completed, the centre will have:
- 22 international standard tennis courts (16 hardcourts, 4 claycourts and 2 grasscourts)
- A 5500 seat covered Centre Court
- Administrative facilities for Tennis QLD
- Cafes, restaurants, pro shop
- A new ferry terminal
- 390 apartments in the 'Tennyson Reach' development

All in all, the centre has cost $80 million to construct.

Here are some artists impressions of the QLD Tennis Centre:

And of course, the centre will host the Brisbane International from 2009...

Here are some sites of interest:

And some photos of the stadium taking shape

Thanks for posting :)
It looks like there are 3 extra outdoor courts and there is an improvement of the public realm. Document also mentions an expansion of RLA, will be interesting to see by how much.
The upgrade will allow Melbourne Park to accommodate records crowds a lot more easily :)

If players perform as they should in 2010 think of how many we should have in the top 100 by the end of 2010

Sam
Jelena
Nastya
Jarka
Casey
Alicia
Olivia

When was the last time we had the potential to have 7 Aussie women in the top 100? Also if Mon and Sophie could just stay injury free and get a lucky draw or 2 could they finally crack the top 100? What if Jess could have a comeback, Shannon could continue improving and Monika could make a fantastic start to her first year full time on the circuit?

I remember Molik, Pratt, McQuillan and Dominikovic were top 100 at the same time in ooh about 01/02? At the same time there were some top 200 back ups in the form of Ellwood (who was top 100 once before), Stewart, Watson, Wheeler, Grahame, Dittmann but none of those players were ever threats to really go further. Those were the days when we had solid representation in Slam qualies at least.

Now it's definitely the healthiest it's looked in ages. Plus, our 200-400 stocks are looking decent too. Was getting a bit lean for a while there.

actually i think it was only a couple of years ago that Dellacqua, Molik, Stosur and Pratt were top 100. settle down you mob!
Not the most healthiest top 100 list though - Sam was out of action at the end of 2007, Nicole retired a few months after, Leesh was struggling from her illness and Casey had just entered the top 100 right at the end.

Hopefully this increase in numbers, breeds competition and better results.

Post-AO Rankings are out, before the Aussie summer I would have hoped for much better rankings than this. Nothing really to be happy about except Sam up to 11 and Dellacqua makes a huge jump up. There are numerous negatives including Dokic, Moore and Mirkovic's plummet, however the biggest negative is no youngsters really broke through.

Heres our players in the top 500:

11 Stosur
96 Dokic
97 Rodionova
125 Groth
142 Adamczak
143 Rogowska
146 Ferguson
170 Molik
227 Golds
276 Dellacqua
299 Moore
302 Peers
335 Holland
355 Konta
384 Wejnert
405 Mirkovic
435 Bobuscic
462 Hubacek

Molik wedged herself nicely in the top 200 after Rd1 wins in Hobart and BrizVegas. I agree though, it's a shame there wasn't more upwards movement but I'm still enjoying having eight women in the Top 200 (seven in the Top150) and one on the verge of Top10 - we've seen worse times, that's for sure.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is Mark Philipoussis playing a tournament in Dallas this week??? :spit:
Yep! So Excited! Even if he gets smashed its just great to see him doing something.
He'll be on live scores in about 2 hours against Michael Yani. Aussie Aussie Aussie! :bounce:

Really? I mean I guess if you're a huge fan of him then it'd be exciting for sure.

But it looks like he's just about done. Well, it looked that way about 3 years ago. I don't really see him doing anything that's going to bring him satisfaction. But hey, you can't knock someone for giving it a go, so good luck to him.

Anybody who saw him play in that Champions Tour thing realise he will probably get smashed, still very curious to see what happens though.
