The last volume has passed 5000 posts, time to start a new one. It's not the most positive of times with Caro just losing the #1 ranking and firing her coach, but while there isn't much we can do about that we can at least try to keep a civil tone here, even if we're somewhat frustrated about the way Caro's career is going right now. Ok?

They spend so much time together. They are both going to Colorado. Why does Caroline train there?
Then they are both going to Brazil for Caro's exo. Then he's going to spend the whole month of January in Australia.

Don't have any great insight into Caro's mindset, but I suspected that this was a false alarm...maybe she'll follow the lead of my other sweet, wholesome(now retired)fave by staying with the same bf for 5-plus years and only retiring and marrying when she's ready for motherhood

Disagree with the above;it's pretty obvious that some players train MUCH harder than others...the lazier ones might not be fat, couch potatoes, per se,but there ARE those who train at the bare minimum and constantly bitch and whine at their coaches during training due to lack of sincere commitment...and that shows when they often totally run out of gas after a long 1st set.No need to name names here since a few of those players have WELL-earned their reputation as slackers, and some of them hire whichever fitness coach will require them to do as little as possible(am only speaking on the WTA here cuz I don't follow the ATP players too closely).Thankfully, even with her occasional distractions,Caro has too much self-respect to ever join the Slacker All-star Team

Offseason news: @CaroWozniacki spending week in Aspen with @McIlroyRory doing high-altitude training with some specialists she's flown in.

I was wondering why they were in Colorado. I thought it might have to do with Nike launching Rory's endorsement deal.
I have no doubt Caroline still wants to do well. Its the mental part. She doesnt play big points well. Almost all of her losses were competitive, but she doesnt play well on key points.
No matter what, fitness, and marathoner's stamina are huge to winning in tough draws

I have noticed that also, that match with Paszek was unbearable.

Will admit that I'm speaking from ignorance, but I find it strange that Nike would invest too much effort in Caro's sweetheart's pastime. As there's pretty much ZERO running in golf--unless someone awakens an alligator with an errant shot into the lake:lol:--I can't see why it would matter too much what shoe you wore...as long as it was reasonably comfortable to walk in.........Tbh,though,I'm not really seeking enlightenment about golf;I wouldn't even watch it if Malou and Caro were playing 'Golf Doubles' in lingerie:lol:

I would love if she would play doubles or mixed doubles at the slams this year

have anyone been too Gm lately I think their saying Caro won't play Katowice

A dane in a Caro Group has just talk with Eurosport, they say there may be a tournament in Denmark next year?? (But it unlikely Caro's tournament in Farum will continue... as her dad now has that in Poland...)

Almost clicked on a Yahoo headline that mentioned some spat between Caro and her bf's ex....but then I realized that it was probably some puff piece and that I wouldn't give a rat's ass:p

Yeah, that one late run in Moscow and Sofia limited Caroline's chances to play smaller events like Katowice, though she might change her mind and reconfigure her plans for her allotment of 2 Internationals

Roger Federer has his own youtube channel that will broadcast his matches there. I doubt if we're also be able to watch the Caro/Masha match there, but at least it means that there are cameras there, so we'll probably be able to watch it somewhere. Last weekend Sharapova played an exhibition in Italy for which there were streams all over te place, so that's another reason to be optimistic for the Caro vs Sharapova one.

I dont think top 5 is unreasonable. She has to stay healthy (never a given) and she needs some deep runs in majors & Tier I's.
The top 3 were in almost every big final all of 2012, so getting back into that group will be much tougher. But 5,6 is probably within reach

So is Caro now in a more hardcore training mode? Colorado seemed largely like a vacation with some fitness training thrown in. She needs a ton of work on her game technically.

Caro had the 2nd worst 1st serve winning % among the year end top 10 at 63%. Li was the next lowest at 64.3%. Everyone else except Errani (59.1%) was above 65%.

You're only giving us part of the picture. The 4% difference is obviously a big drop-off for the Italian, but where does Caro stand,percentage-wise,against the Top 8?Tbh,if most of those gals are between 65 and 65.9%,then Caro's numbers won't seem so abysmal. She should always seek to improve,if possible, but could you give us a better perspective by listing the entire Top 10??
