We're only weeks away from the new season of Aussie ITFs. A slightly shorter end-of-year circuit this year. And no NT events :bigcry:

Here's the schedule:

$25,000 Cairns (Aug 27-Sep 2)
$25,000 Rockhampton (Sep 3-9)
$10,000 Salisbury (Sep 10-16)
$25,000 Port Pirie (Sep 17-23)
$25,000 Esperance (Oct 1-7)
$25,000 Margaret River (Oct 8-14)
$25,000 Traralgon (Oct 22-28)
$25,000 Bendigo (Oct 29-Nov 4)

The early entry list for Cairns is up: http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/tournaments/women's-tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100027432

No major surprises, apart from Tammi Patterson looking like she's going to give it another crack. No Jess Moore, Dani J or Ash Barty

Anyone here going to be attending any of these?

Jess had a shocker that day, nothing was working....complete contrast to the day before when she absolutely dominated Kramperova and was smacking winners all over the place.... I hope Jess can keep picking up a few wins here and there....she is just lacking the confidence to really get going again...

Tammi played very composed and solid in that second set and was really giving the ball a crack....if she could just play at that level more consistently she could possibly push for the top 250...

Sally Peers....unlucky to run into Ishizu who was in red hot form in Marg River.....good wins over Lim and Omae though showing signs of her old form....another one that just needs a dose of confidence and a good run to get her back on track....

Not sure what is happening with Bojana....seems to have lost her confidence also and was spraying balls all over the place....hopefully she can pick up the pace in Bendigo/Traralgon and then get some good matches under her belt for the playoffs....

Suggestions going around that Dani Jeflea has retired......Daniela Scivetti is now working for Tennis NSW in Tournaments....Emelyn Starr has also gone although I think we all knew that...

Thanks for some match updates. Must be harder for WA players to arrive fresh and ready given longer travel distances. There's some nice talent in WA in several tiers that needs nurturing. Boj has an intensity and underlying potential to do great things like many Aussie players.

Check this out;
http://www.northerndailyleader.com....australian-open-wildcard-berths-head-to-asia/

The Australian Open will offer wildcard entry into its main draw for the winners of an Asian play-off for the first time, as Tennis Australia seeks to capitalise on the tournament's growing popularity in the region.
But it will come at the expense of up-and-coming Australian tennis players, with one of eight existing wildcards reserved for Australian hopefuls to go instead to winners of the new tournament, to be held next month in Nanjing, China. The wildcards will be up for grabs for both the men's and women's singles tournaments.

Ugh, there are so many mistakes in that article I don't know where to begin. I hate when people who know nothing about the sport, write about it! Eight spots are NOT reserved for Aussie players, there are several that go to overseas players, including Asian, French & US. It's been like that for years. Funny thing is, it even reference the other reciprocal arrangements at the end of the article. Sloppy, sloppy writing

It's not going to be at the expense of an Aussie player, because they've been offering an Asian WC for years. The only difference this year is that it will be decided via play off.
