Darija Jurak is a 24 y.o. Croatian tennis player, winner of 8 ITF singles titles and 27 ITF doubles titles, one of which she won this year. Her favorite surface is clay and current year win/loss singles record is 15-10. Her career high ranking is 188 for singles and 108 for doubles, while her current singles ranking is 413, which is the highest she's been in almost 18 months. She reached two QF's on 25k this year.

This week she's playing in Bad Saulgau 25k, where she qualified for MD (just like last year) and drew 2nd seed and world's number 208 Tereza Hladikova (CZE) as her first opponent. Since she's defending QF from last year, a loss here could push her down some 30 places in the rankings, but let's hope for the best. She applied for doubles also, not defending anything, she and her partner play against top seeds in the first round. She's playing in Germany next week as well, on another 25k where she lost in R1 last year after going through qualies, but is defending finals of doubles.

Good luck Darija:wavey:

A big congrats to the girls, finally some nice news for Darija :)

This gets her back into top 50, from 54 to 47 and this sudden surge of form couldn't have come at a better time, cause within a month she'll have to defend a total of 400 points. Therefore any wins in Katowice would be very valuable. Speaking of which, great to see she'll be partnering MML again, I always knew she was a great doubles player, but you never know if some people will click, no matter how good they are individually.

So it's the first WTA doubles title for our girls since 2006 (if my info is correct) when Jelena Kostanic won Bangkok. In fact, Jelena won our last 4 doubles WTA's (Talaja won Sopot in '03, after which Kostanic won Auckland and Canberra in '04 and then Tokyo and Bangkok in '06) and is our player with the highest number of WTA doubles titles coming at 8.

At age 30 (btw, happy birthday Darija :D it was 2 days ago) Darija probably won't surpass that number, but it must be wonderful knowing that you've actually won a WTA title in your career. It's something not many players can look back at once they're reitred.

Anyway, good luck in Poland!

You can always guess which of the two players on her side is Darija, no matter how bad the stream is (and it's bad) - she loves her pinks and oranges, almost like JJ. Well, almost, cause very few combine purple with neon orange or drab teal as "successfully" as JJ does

EDIT: Guess you could go wrong...mea culpa...
