Anett Kontaveit is 14 years old tennis player. She won Estonian national championships in 2009. Could she be new star for Estonia in future? Atleast there is hope for that. This thread is for her. So let`s share Anett`s tennis results and talk about her tennis.
I totally forgot to check if there was video stream yesterday
BTW Rodina is still in her half as well, a former top 100 player (coming back from injury?), she is probably much more dangerous than Luangnam would have ever been.
That is embarassing
Thank God she didn't play US Open  she is going to get destroyed next week in Podgorica unless she plays much much better
What saddens me more is the obvious mental weakness. I mean she comes off destroying her opponent and then loses a moderately close 3rd
Still, last time she lost 2nd Round of a 25K where she played Doubles she went on to win it Really disappointing in Singles though Still, 8 Points is something Defending Yoshkar-Ola should be the 1st thing on her mind next week
What's worse about this loss though was the complete waste of a draw
Looks like she's going downwards comparing to the previous year(s). This year has been quite a disaster, ironically even that Moscow win in spring was totally timed wrong as it ruined her RG.
We can only hope she somehow starts to bloom next year when she will be 18 and can play more tournaments. She needs more matchplay, not just 3 or 4 matches a month like it has been until now.
It's because of her ridiculous scheduling. She never gets any flow except in Izmir which was actually really intelligent scheduling aside from the fact that the 1st was a 10K and she didn't play a 25K in the same week. She needs to play higher level tournaments but not ridiculously strong and just get some flow through small travel times and stuff. Like playing weaker tournaments in Belgium and the Netherlands or even Italy instead of 10Ks in Greece, Turkey and Britain. Like its good she's playing 25Ks and 2 in a row but she shouldn't have played Moscow/Podgorica Double because the difference in level is too big and they aren't close together but at least now if she does badly in Doubles she will get there early
I really hope she will come good soon What's sad is that she can play this shit and be this highly ranked with virtually no points to defend  I hope she plays Lagos X 2 But she is only 17 and I am probably being too harsh
BTW, Anett's score disappeared off the scoreboard for Doubles so does anyone know if she won?
Apart from Burnie SF and Moscow W, it has been quite a disappointing year. Last year she beat Bouchard, Duval and Vickery in 2 sets. They won a match at USO this year while Anett is still stuck where she was last year.
Catch up with them, girl
yeah, maybe parting ways w tamla was not smart after all. at least she was progressing with märten. not sure about her current coach, i find him a bit old school. maybe i am being judgemental.
should anett go with silver k for change? silver's difficult personality aside, he clearly helped elevate kaia's performance. he's hanging out at tennis clubs all the time, don't think he has a serious coaching relationship w anyone right now.
What exactly was this personality of Silver's... I think he could be very helpful for Anett as I thought he was great for Kaia all the way up to them parting I don't really get why she dumped Marten
Looks like they couldn't play their doubles match neither yesterday nor today because of rain.
We'll see if her team plans any changes after this unfortunate season. Why not try some other coach indeed, Silver or someone else (not that they have too many options if they consider natives only). Would be better to get some top coach from abroad, but even Kaia hasn't found anyone decent with her results (or maybe it's her own choice). Anett did pretty well at slams last year, surprising that nobody approached her.
Perhaps she should steal Thomas Hogstedt I heard she was training a lot with Richard Allgurin at the end of last year and aside from Ellen I don't know of anyone he coaches...
I don't think even Kaia could afford Hogstedt now that he's got something to show for coaching Sharapova But doesn't Tallink aready support Anett along with Kanepi, Zopp and Ivanov.
sure they do, but in fairness kaia can manage just OK without a permanent coach whereas anett seemingly does need somebody really good in short order to take a big step forward.
There is a livestream for Podgorica Court 3 and I am not sure but Anett may be on it
If not she may be later in the tournament
Let's hope she can win here because if she does then the next match will be relatively simple but unless she improves she won't win against Burger
Anyway, she has said she likes Montenegro so lets hope that reflects in a good result
Anett won 63 75
I watched the scoreboard when 2nd set started. Anett was 1*-2 15*-40 but won 4 points in a row and held. Then there were 3(I think?) breaks in a row ( ), fortunately she managed to win this in 2.
Now she plays against (Q)Martina Caregaro (ITA). She should now win again, but you never know with her
I managed to follow the first set, the start was a nightmare. She was *0-2 0-40 down, having won just one point. Then suddenly she woke up and took 11 points in a row to make it 3-2*
The match wasn't video streamed unfortunately.
Voracova is out, so on paper she could make it to semis at least, but we all saw how it went in Moscow. So it's better to take it one match at a time.
Good win
Hopefully this will give her some confidence
The next round should be easier
I am really happy Voracova's out but I still think she will need to play better to make SF
That's what I thought too but this is definitely Court 3 as I watched Moser play Yesterday and she was on this court And they are preparing it now :yeah: Anett's match was scheduled for Not Before 1:30 Podgorica Time so maybe they moved Herdzelas and Morgosova to another Court
EDIT: I WAS RIGHT!!! Anett is on now I don't know why she's starting late
Someone has to record this
Broken after having Game Points
This girl is actually decent but Anett plays some points without a brain
EDIT: Anett breaks back and has 2-2
She really needs to do more on returning
EDIT 2: Anett's opponent has gone into stupid mode and hands her the game 3-2*
EDIT 3: OMG ANETT
Please get this back She is playing way too much to this girls forehand and just missing too much
EDIT 4: Some of the most amazing play from Anett at 40-15 down to get the break back
EDIT 5: Aside from bad opening point, great game from Anett at 5-4* Still not over yet She plays well under pressure but her serve really does fall away
EDIT 6: ANETT WINS!!! Although my stream froze as her opponent was about to serve on Match Point  I am really happy with her mental strength and I kinda never doubted that she could win Anyway, 14 Points is nice and now Morgosova who should be easier I am so relieved and also happy I got to see her on a stream on Clay
Pheww, that was close. Not sure if Morgosova will be easier, probably not. Well, in the end it is still Anett's to win or lose. Let's see if she can make it to 25k SF no. 3 of her career. 24 points would be nice for her ranking.
I think chingching always says that she looks slimmer when seeing her
The camera was quite far so I'd not be able to tell anything.
To me she has been looking about the same for the last 1.5 years or so.
Btw, looks like only the other half of the draw is playing tomorrow so Anett will get a day off
I just remembered to check the new entry lists and found out that Anett has entered Perth
So does she really plan a trip to Australia now? Then she'll probably play Margaret River as well. These 25s should be pretty weak there. Vulturing on a whole new level
In normality she would be seeded but this tournament is a bit stronger but its full of journeywomen
A great opportunity for Anett to gain some points although she has to improved Let's hope she can win vs. Morgosova
I notice there are also two 50k tournaments in Australia in October. I mean if she's already willing to travel there... But will it be too late of a push for AO qualies? This of course assuming she would win a few matches..
Anett had 5-2 40-15* but she could not break. Instead she got broken in her next service game. Fortunately she got the break again and won the first set 64.
