haha bring on a strycova v nastya match on a hot day late arvo when half the crowd is sunburnt and drunk on a showcourt at the aussie open, that would bring fireworks haha
Really solid win for Nastya today against higher-ranked Greta Arn. Did it pretty easy winning 6-4 7-5 and only dropped serve once. She might scrape back into the top 100 with this win, which is a good effort considering she dropped to #125 after the US Open. Plays Gajdosova or Morita next so another winnable match
I don't think she is defending any points until March so that gives her a chance to get some results on the board and consolidate her ranking back in the top 100 where she belongs.
Hope Jarka can get thru as she needs to defend her points...
Good win for Rodi today, glad she got through, hopefully she can get at least one win at the aussie open also and cement a spot back in the top 100....
Not so good for her. I imagine several people will have left after the first match (Federer) or at least after a few games of her match. That's usually how it goes when the women are scheduled second. Unless Federer wins quickly, of course..
Nastya has played some great shots, but made far too many errors. I can see why so many people can't stand Caroline's game. Nastya looks the better ball striker by far. But Caroline is just way more consistent.
Bump! Jeepers - nobody's posted here for 3 months! Where's the love?
Well, after a slow start to the season, Nastya's doing okay again. She's pushed her way back into the top 100 and is now clearly the Aussie #3. She had a top 30 win of Medina Garrigues a couple of weeks ago. She's also doing very well in doubles. She won her 4th WTA title in Pattaya City and cracked the top 20 for the first time. (Currently at #19). She'll be pretty hard to overlook for Fed Cup and Olympics at this rate.
She's playing Copenhagen this week and plays R1 against 5th seed Kaia Kanepi. She won her R1 doubles partnering her sister They're the 2nd seeds and hopefully can have a good tournament.
Keep going Nastya. You know Australia loves you because you're one of our few half-decent players.
