I noticed that Kiki did not have her own thread. But after her recent results I think she deserves one.

Re: Kiki Bertens

So many players don't take enough time to rest. I think this could be really good :) As long as she doesn't get too stressed about rankings.

Re: Kiki Bertens

Update on her website. She is back on the tennis court doing a light training :cheer: Ankle is feeling good and improving each day :)
Really good that they are taking things slowly, not rushing things!

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki will be playing the Dutch Masters which is good news because that means her ankle is getting better and it will be a nice warm up and test for the new season.

1st tournament of 2014 will be WTA Brisbane :awww: Thought she would have entered Auckland like last year.
Brisbane has a really good EL (Serena, Vika & Maria are all here ), so Kiki has to play quallies.

BTW Aran also on the Q list for Brisbane ;)

Re: Kiki Bertens

Brisbane is probably my favourite WTA tournament, so I like that she is playing there :D

Looking at the Auckland list she would have to play qualies there too so it doesn't really matter in the end

But it will be tough to defend all those points from last year.

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki defended her Masters title ;)

R1 Bye
QF def Lemoine 7-6 6-4
SF def Kerkhove 6-1 6-3
F def Kalyuzhnaya [2] 6-3 6-3

Really nice to have been able to play a couple of matches here.
She is travelling tonight to Australia where she will play Brisbane (Q), Sydney (Q) & AO.

Re: Kiki Bertens

First WTA/ITF match since US Open, and opposition here is of course tougher than at Masters. I am optimistic though, I saw Kiki's matches last week and she played some good matches. She still can improve on her movement because she is not entirely fit yet as a result of the injury. Kovinic had a good year in 2013, so she is a tough opponent but if Kiki can stay focussed she should be able to win. I wouldn't be surprised if she lost either though.

Re: Kiki Bertens

Kiki won, 6-3 7-5 :)

First ITF/WTA in 4 months. Needs a few matches, but this is a nice start.

Against Duval now. She was fun to watch at the USO.
