Re: Three Hands #19 - Istanbul (First Update After RR!)
Three Hands YEC Interview - goOudinUSA
- So, can you tell us a little bit about yourself, like your name, where you from (more than just USA), are you a he or she, how long have you been on TF and anything related you would like to share...?
Hi! My name is Douglas but I go by Doug. I like in a small town in Georgia, USA, about an hour northwest of Atlanta.
- We know you love Melanie so much from your nickname. Can you share with us why you like/love/support her? Have you met her in real life or go to a tournament to support her? If you did, did you manage to get a sig from her?
Yes, I love Melanie!! She has been my favorite player for years. Through tough patches and the good! She is such a nice person with a great personality. Too me she is a great tennis player! She also is from a town not far from where I live. I have not actually met Mel and got an autograph, but I have seen her play in person. It was possibly the best day of my life.
- You were one of the few players who have achieved perfect hands before there was a rule change (at Doha). How difficult was it to pick the correct 6 players from the draw? Do you think it's easier to achieve perfect hands at bigger tournaments with famous players playing or smaller ones with uncertainties?
I was very surprised I got one! I think part of it has to do with luck. You don't really know how to tournament is going to play out, so you just really have to go off instinct. Tournaments with more famous players, I think, are easier to pick.
- What were your goals in playing Three Hands? ...and who do you think will win this tournament at Istanbul?
My goal was to win!! and I hope I win the tournament, but anyone has a chance! It'll be fun to see how it plays out.
- What's your favorite game on TF and why? It does not have to be Three Hands.
I love Three Hands, but I have to go with Tennis Tipping. TT is such a fun game. It take predicting matches to a whole new level. It is also a great way to make friends (and enemies)!
- Can you tell us a little bit about your playing style or ways to approach Three Hands when you manage your picks? Like which hands are more important to others or what players to pick or not to pick in a tournament... etc...?
All three hands are very valuable to winning, but I think Hand 1 has the biggest impact. With the x3 multiplier, Hand 1 usually gives the most points.
- Do you play tennis in real life? If you do, can you tell us what are your preferences? ...such as which hand do you use, what kind of surface do you like the most... etc... If you don't, what outdoor activities do you do?
I don't play in a league or with a team, but I like to play with friends and family. I love hitting a one-handed backhand (though it needs work )! I'm right handed and hard court is my favorite surface. I also enjoy hiking and playing American football and basketball.
- What do you enjoy the most on TF and why? Some people may prefer to know their favorite players' schedule from spiceboy, some like to read TBE's real time rankings, some like the games, some simply just want to read the drama on general messages...
I really enjoy all of it! The games, the players forums, and the tournament forums are what most of my time consists of.
- If there are 10 bags worth of tennis balls (each bag has more than 100 of them) and one of the bags contained fake tennis balls that weighs 0.1 lb less than others. How many times do you need to weigh to figure out which bag contains the fake tennis balls?
Oh gosh. Probably about 100.
- Are there any recommendations you would like to give to Three Hands? ...or any comments on the changes for the game next year (maybe how you feel doubles being allowed to be picked)?
Three Hands is a great game! I'm so happy I joined! The changes already made for 2014 look great. Doubles may be an interesting element to the game. Doubles can sometimes be unpredictable, so it would be a fun addition!
- Thank you for participating.
Thank you for the interview and running the event!!
