3 wins in a row. None are incredible, defining wins, but after that clay season, this is a very good week.
Now a semi against Hampton, who beat Kvitova & Radwanska in the past month

#3,649 ·
It looks like an easy semi,on paper, except that young Hampton has really been on a hot streak and has a game that is apparently quite suited for grass. Then again,Caro just defeated a grass specialist of sorts so her prospects aren't bad here

Well on paper Caro should take this match but Jamie has nothing to loose so she has to be 100% for sure.

If you wanted any confirmation that Caroline is not using a Yonex (despite what some on twitter said), go to Yonex page on Facebook, they have removed Caroline. Some sort of power struggle is likely going on behind the scenes.

Reference for those without Facebook:
The opening of Wimbledon 2013 is approaching, and the seeded players for the championships were announced on the tournament official website yesterday. There are six YONEX professionals competing as the seeds in singles!

Men:
Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) seed 11
Argentina’s Juan Monaco (VCORE Xi 98) seed 22

Women:
Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100) seed 7
Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) seed 10
Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) seed 12
Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) seed 23

Also:
Elena Baltacha (VCORE Xi 100) gained direct entry as the wild card
Go Soeda (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN) got through the qualifying round and achieved to secure the ticket for the main draw for 4 consecutive years.

The Wimbledon 2013 main draws will be available on Friday, June 21st.

I heard they were making a custom racket for her but now she is dropped, I just don't get this.

#3,659 ·
Well if it's any consolation she is still on the official Yonex site, so not completely gone but maybe they are thinking about it.

Will they actually get the racket right for the US hard court season is the question. It's pretty vague what is going on really. I mean its taken 2 and a half years to get to this, seems ludicrous on the face of it. They are under big pressure to get the racket right, or they are going to look even worse than they already do.

Imagine this : Caro has a pretty decent Eastbourne and Wimbledon with the black avenger.

In US HC season, she plays with a new Yonex, but plays like .... [insert 'not brilliant' word] ...

Will she then go back to Black Avenger for the Asian swing? ...

But agree, it is such a strange situation. Results would back the Yonex was fine 1H 2011. Few players ever have had success like Caro had from AO SF and MP for F 2011 up to and incl US SF 2011.

But then, maybe, the desired change in playing style, exposed the Yonex as not so well suited. As a contributing factor ... results have tanked ...

22 month later, is now. :tape::help:

My point is that she is now been dropped from the sponsor list and to me that sounds like they have a very low opinion of her, to be honest she should drop off anyway and go back to Babolat. And if you look carefully at the vibration dampener on the racket (the pink thing) I swear I saw a Yonex logo.

What I liked about this match was the fight. Caro was down a set, and Caro focused.
Makarova got back on serve after Caro had 3 points for 5-2 in the 3rd. Caro kept her focus & kept fighting.
I think the Babolat probably is better for her. So if Yonex cant duplicate it, she'll probably switch.

Really pleased to see the scores and that Caro won today. WD Caro. Now make it to the final. I think Jamie will be really hard to win against though. I see Caro lost the 1st set today. Aga lost the 1st set against Jamie on Tuesday and I didn't see that because I was on CC watching Laura. But after that was over there was a crowd of us trying to see what was happening on court 1. And Jamie closed the door and just didn't give Aga a sniff of a chance to get it back in the 2nd set. I don't think you can rely on Jamie dropping her level.

True, my mistake. Obviously the last three tournaments fall outside of your timeline. Regarding New Haven, how many top twenty players were there? When I say "big" I mean a field with most of the top twenty in it (typically majors, premier mandatories and premier 5s but there are some "small" tournaments, like Sydney, that I consider "big" due to the field). I also excluded Copenhagen for the same reason.

Like most players, Hampton can hit some good shots. Caroline has to stay focused and keep her head in the match. thats become very hard for her.
Caro won around 40 semis in her career, but only 1 this year. So nothing is for sure anymore

Caro has to do something about her red clay preparation also.
Last year she went with Rory to watch horse racing and rugby. This year she went to The Masters.
She had terrible clay seasons after doing well in 2011, Rome SF, Stuttgart Final, won Brussels.
She cant give up on clay. Her defensive game should work on clay, and if Sharapova and Serena can start to win on it, so can Caro
But for now, she looks like IW/Dubai again. She's fighting and not quitting. She has to keep doing this at all premiers and especially majors

#3,680 ·
Well she is first on Centre court, she has gotta take advantage of this situation but I just know that It won't be easy at all.

#3,681 ·
Good performance by Caro. Nice to see her come back from a set down! I didn't really expect Caro to reach the SF here, although I've always believed we'll see some good results from her again. After all, she was in an IW final only three months ago. I just thought we'd have to wait untill the US HC.

Yet we must not fool ourselves: An Eastbourne SF is still a pretty poor result on Caro's CV, but it's a step forward. Jamie Hampton will be tough. Really impressive results in Eastbourne.

When is Caro going to get a grand slam draw where she avoids dangerous floaters in the 1st two rounds? :( Geez.

It would be very much appreciated if Caro could get a relatively easy grand slam draw where I could feel fairly confident that Caro would at least get far enough to play another seed.

I think you are just paranoid about draws. I mean you don't get many better draws than this.
