This girl from Latvia has been deserving of a thread for quite a while, and when this weeks 25K Padova SF points come through next Monday, she should be top 300 :)

Her best career results have been:
2009 Tallinn 10K W 12
2009 Telavi 25K QF 14
2011 Fallanden 10K F 8
2011 Athens 10K W 12
2011 Podgorica 25K QF 14
2012 Sunderland 25K QF 14
2012 Dijon 10K F 8
2012 Bath 25K SF + Q 25
2012 Caserta 25K QF + Q 15
2012 Padova 25K SF (In Progress) 24

She has also won 11 doubles titles (4 in 2012 Already), many at 25K level this year. Her doubles ranking is currently at its Career High of 249

She seems to be a very good player and I have seen a few of her matches on livestreams. She plays very aggressively and moves well but sometimes hits too many unforced errors and her defence can be lacklustre. Her service motion is very unorthodox and front on meaning she loses power but her timing is excellent. Against Anett Kontaveit and Aleksandra Krunic she served 14 Aces  which is amazing for a girl who isn't very tall. She has had wins over Anne Kremer, Anna Floris, Anett Kontaveit, Lina Stanciute, Lenka Wienerova, Dia Evtimova Catalina Castano and Anastasia Grymalska. In general, her best result have come on the clay in Italy but she has also done well on British Indoor Hard. Her main problem is consistency as one week she will lose 1st round of a 10K and then make the Semis of a 25K. Let's hope she can get some consistency and move up the rankings :)

Diana lost the final 6-2 6-3
Still an amazing tournament and her wins over Jabeur and Cepede Royg, both Olympians next week (it's funny that 2 Olympians both failed to make the final of a weaker British 25K ) and this should give her great confidence going into Wrexham as the 4th seed :) I only see Vickery, Witthoeft and Vekic challenging her, all good Juniors but she has shown her dominance over Juniors when she destroyed Anett on Hard in England :) Let's hope she can repeat that :yeah:

Diana made the QFs in Wrexham, losing to Venezuelan Adriana Perez 6-1 5-7 7-6(3)
With these points that will come in after the Olympics, she will go up to Number 277 :cheer:
She did not compete in doubles in this tournament :)
Next week she will play a 25K in Bad Saulgau, Germany where she will be around 6th seed :)
Let's hope she can replicate her form from last week :)
It is on clay though, so she will have to adapt quickly :)
I hope she tries some higher level events soon :D

BTW, she only has 59 (out of her 193) points to defend for the rest of the year :bounce:
Given that she only needs 103 points to be Top 200, she could be there by the end of the year and will most likely make Australian Open Qualies as I doubt she wouldn't make Top 250 :cheer:

The week after next, she will play a 25K in Italy, which I think is a bad move as she could have played another 25K in Germany which would cost less, but I hope that she can gain 50 Points from the 2 tournaments, which would put her comfortably in the Top 250 :bounce:

Diana won her first round in Bad Saulgau 25K against 5th Seed, Recent 25K Winner in Poland, Former Top 5 Junior and her Doubles Partner 6-3 7-6(6) :bounce:

Sadly Danka seems to have been injured as they pulled out of their doubles as 3rd seeds :(

Diana's great Singles form, along with some newfound consistency is great and may see Latvia return to Euro/Africa Group I with Sevastova coming back, Dekmeijere still journeywomaning and Jelena Ostapenko rising :D

She has a clear route to the QFs with as she will play either a German WC or French Qualifier :D There she may draw Sandra Zahlavova which is winnable, but Zahlavova has had a lot of experience at the top level

BTW, the tournament has livescores :cheer:

These are her Top 16 points, where all of the big ones are from this year :D
1. 34
2. 25
3. 24
4. 15
5. 14
6. 14
7. 14
8. 14
9. 9
10. 9
11. 8
12. 8
13. 6
14. 6
15. 4
16. 4

Basically, if she can keep on making QFs of 25Ks, she will eventually make Top 200 :D

Her opponent is Qualifier Estelle Guisard who defeated Lehnert 6-2 7-5 :)
She is 2 matches away from playing on centre court :)
She has defended all of her points from last year already and if she can win this match she should move up a few places :)
Good news is that Zahlavova was pushed by an Italian Qualifier, dropping the first set so Dinana is looking ever more likely to make the Semis as the Number 2 seed pulled out and Piter/Jugic-Salkic (Mervana is winning currently 5-1) and Zahlavova are in between her and another final :D
She would most likely face Witthoeft there though, so that would be a tough one :(

It was a good choice of hers to play in Italy as next weeks Hechingen is much stronger than this weeks 25K, as many of the 50K Trnava players have come over like Sevastova :)

She played there last year and made MD, so if she wins in Italy they will have been defended

Only 111 points to the Top 200, so if she can make a few 25K finals and maybe even win one, she's there :D

:D :cheer:
Happy B Day :)
Now she has hit 20 :)
It's a shame she lost 3-6 6-2 7-6(5) but still, I am happy that it is her birthday and hopefully she can play better in Italy :)

Thank you for the photos as well battista :)

It's a shame she had to spend her birthday on the road

Diana won her first round in Italy 2-6 6-3 6-2 :D
A bit too close but a win's a win :)
Next she has Anastasia Grymalska who I would normally call a really difficult opponent but she only just got past Moroni 3-6 6-3 6-4
I would say that Diana is the slight favourite :yeah:
She is sadly not playing Doubles again, but hopefully this will help her singles :)

Diana is at 273 in the live rankings after this win and will hopefully break the Top 250 with a good run here :bounce:

Diana beat Grymalska 6-4 5-7 6-4 but had MPs in the second
She then went on to lose to Lim which really is disappointing 7-5 6-4 :(
Anett beat Lim convincingly and Diana destroyed Anett. A true shame
Anyway, she will play Prague in 2 weeks (she is based there) and will have some relaxing a training time. With this weeks points coming on in 2 weeks time she will go up to around 265 :)

If she had won, she may have won as there were no seeds left in the draw and despite Arn, Knapp and Bacsinszky all playing, none were left :spit:

After Prague Diana is sxheduled to play in Mamaia, Romania in a 25K. The list was only released today so it is still very strong, with her as the 11th alternate. let's hope she can have some more good runs :)

Diana has played 2 tournaments recently: 25K Charleroi and 25K Alphen A/D de Rijn :)
In Charleroi she made the QF and in AA/DdR she made the SF :D
She is also at a CH this week in Doubles and Singles (256 in Singles, 245 in Doubles) and will reach a CH in both again next week after her SF in Singles and Doubles respectively come in, her singles ranking being inside the Top 250 for the first time :cheer: :D
She also made the Final of Charleroi in Doubles :)

Next week Diana has made MD for 75K Shrewsbury, the first time she has made MD for such a competetive tournament :)
Hopefully she can do well there and maybe win a match or two :)

Diana unfortunately lost Rnd 1 last week to Johanna Konta 6-4 6-0
She also lost Rnd 1 in Doubles :(

This week she is playing 25K Clermond-Ferrand, which is actually stronger than last week's 75K, as she only just made MD

Frirst round she plays Coin, before a potential meeting with Maria Jao Koehler, who made a 100K Final this year :)

She got a WC to play doubles with Bibiane Schoofs, who is a very good player :)
Rnd 1 they face Gamiz and Giovine, before having another potential meeting with Koehler, as she is partnered with Teliana Pereira :) They have a good chance to go far in Doubles :)

Good Luck :D

Diana lost in Rnd 1 again, this time in 3 sets, but her opponent Julie Coin has been Top 100 and then beat Koehler in the next round :)

She is in the SF in Doubles though with Bibiane Schoofs :)
They play unseeded Bremond and Kostova in the Semi :)
A great opportunity for a Final :D

Diana has had some amazing results in the past couple of weeks :)
First, she played 50K Joue-Les-Tours where she qualified before unluckily losing R1 to Alison Riske. Alison has been in good form though and went on to beat some good players :) But the great news was that Diana made the final of the Doubles :D This has halped to propel herself to a new career high of 194 in Doubles :D Top 200 :yeah:
This week she played in 25K Glasgow, where she had some great wins including over Sarah Gronert who beat her in the final of Woking-Foxhills and Tara Moore. She unfortunately lost in the SF to Samantha Murray 7-6(7) 7-5. I hope there wasn't choke but definitely a missed opportunity. She is in the Doubles Final though as top seeds with Jegiolka, who she won a 25K with at the beginning of the year in Sunderland and the made the final with last week :D A good pairing :yeah:
When her points come on next week she will be around 230 :cheer:
Next week she is playing 75K + H in Ismaning where she has 4 points to defend before she comes back to GB for 75K Barnstaple :)
I hope she plays some WTAs next year :) She could have played the WTA Challengers this year; they would have been weaker than these events

Another update on Diana :D
She took a week off before returning to England to play in 75K Barnstaple. She unfortunately lost in R1 to Keothavong but in a close match, 6-4 6-4 and Keothavong was defending champion :) Her major success though, was in Doubles where she, with Sasha Sasnovich went on to make the Final  This pushed her ranking up to a CH of 168 :cheer: She is currently at 243 (CH 238) in Singles and 169 (CH 168) in Doubles :)
Unfortunately, last week she lost another 1st Round, this time of 25K Equeurdreville, to Amra Sadikovic, 6-3 6-3. She also lost again this week in Zawada (Opole) 25K to Jasmina Tinjic 7-6(6) 2-6 6-3 :( I hope this isn't the beginning of a slump :( She won her 1st Round Doubles with Pekhova though :)
