Now that we can avoid cluttering the main tennis threads, you can all ponder the intellectual capacity of the genius who thought it was a 'bombshell' that Clijsters wanted to have more children: "REALLY?:crazy:I thought Kim HATED kids. Why didn't anyone tell me otherwise?:silly:..."

Whew. Yes!!!!!!! Fed breaks for 7-5 3rd set at Ad Fed from 40-0 to 40-30 to 40-40 (2nd serve) (2nd serve) on a 2nd serve. :) Great job Roger. :) The match was 2 hours 38 minutes long.

Congrats Roger on returning to #2. :) Hopefully you can get 2 more weeks at #1.

Bruce, I've just read a news story about 49 bodies being found near San Juan, probably killed by Los Zetas. As our resident Mexican, can you tell us if there's any hope this war between different drug cartels (and drug cartels vs police) is going to end any time soon, or is this what people in certain parts of Mexico can expect to live (and die) with for years to come?

Well,as long as there's life within us,there's always hope. The real issues are trying to capture the bosses and cut off their shipping routes...which,for years, our presidents made NO effort to do b/c the narcos were their close buddies.

Hypothetically speaking,we could make serious inroads during the next administration if the new president--likely Pena Nieto--did a good job.We expect(/hope) that,in the next decade, things will be better. An advantage we have is that we don't totally insist on putting the bosses in jail as in the U.S. or Europe;we're using special forces soldiers so,if we can pinpoint the bosses estates(usually secluded in rural areas),there's no problem if the soldiers go in shooting and kill the bastards.

Part of the problem is that the older bosses usually had a sort of code...where the inter-cartel violence was confined to specific targets...not so many innocent people getting killed.Even now, most of the killing--at least in MY city--takes place where you'd expect: Bars,nightclubs,casinos,etc....However,when most of the old bosses died off or went to prison, they were replaced by hit men who had ascended within the cartels, and THOSE guys have lower,less-refined standards, hence the increased brutality.

I suppose it's a positive sign that the bosses used to move about freely without fear, and now they stay in hiding to avoid the federalis and soldiers.Thank you for your concern,C.W.

I'm a bit late posting this but what do you guys think of Nadal threatening not to play Madrid next year due to the blue clay? Seems kind of silly to me. It may be a new/different surface but it's new for everyone. I hope he does boycott it. That's at least a thousand points he is guaranteed not to get.

I find the whole reasoning behind the blue clay both patronising and insulting to the players and fans considering the result. Time the owner used his skills in Las Vegas, rather than stinking up the tour with his poor taste and last century kitsch ideas.

It's about the tennis.

Am inclined to agree with Burisleif's presumption above as it's common for major sporting ventures to try cheap gimmicks to retain the pitifully-short attention spans of today's populace. If they wanted some sort of goofy publicity stunt, they could've thrown an exhibition there and kept the regular tournament the same. From what I've read, the quality of play and fan interest in Madrid weren't any higher this year,so we may classify this circus act as a failure...other than the fact that it's taught us what NOT to do

As is so often the case I may have spoken too soon. Djokovic broke back and held to love. Nadal struggled with his serve in his last service game.

A pity that Novak lost this one because it means that Nadal will be the second seed at the FO. I had hoped that Fed would be the second seed and that Djokovic and Nadal would draw each other in the semis. Now Fed will probably have to beat both to win the title. Not that it's very likely that he'd be able to beat either one of them on this surface, but you never know.

I don't like it either but Novak was so good last year that there was really no place for him to go but down. Sure, he is still very comfortably number one but he is winning significantly fewer titles this year. You also need to take into account just how good Nadal is, especially on clay. Assuming that they both make the final at the French Open I think we will see a much more competitive match.

Earnest hope never truly dies...and I recall enough of my high school French to figure out the headlines without a translation. As with all of the Slams,I look forward to seeing the story titled,"Vandals Draw on Draw"

Car wouldn't start this morning when I had to go to class...even though it was warm enough outside for folks to break a sweat.......Promised my gf that, even in her absence,I wouldn't pull a lead pipe out of the trunk and smash the blasted car with it anymore...though I was tempted. When I got home in the early evening, the car started up just fine:rolleyes:

Well, given the eugenics policies their current administration has towards hispanics and blacks(ironic, huh?),it doesn't surprise me at all.....It goes back to what I posted a while back in re Caro: When a scumbag hates you,it's actually a blessing in disguise

Well, it looks again as if Borussia is interested in signing Nicklas Bendtner as replacement for Lucas Barrios who's leaving for China.

The forums are buzzing about the rumors and lots of people have dug up articles on Bendtner and the more I read about him, the more I'm stunned that Caro is friends with this guy. He seems to be an arrogant loudmouth with some serious behavioral problems, not really her usual crowd.

Anyways, this guy is in for a serious change of character if he joins us as Klopp will surely be taking none of this bullshit, he'll either turn into a proper guy or find himself in the stands after a few weeks. Anyways, I would propose that they add a requirement to his contract that Caro has to attend at least 2 of our home games each season

Perfect description. :yeah: .. If he ever were to join Villa (parish the thought), I would dis-own them and he is also the main reason ( with Lindegaard (Man Utd goalie) & a Bendtner #2 ) I secretly hope Denmark is totally thrashed at the Euro. There simply isn't enough tea in China for me to ever support a side with Bendtner in it.
