Re: Three Hands #7 - Stuttgart [New Players Welcome!]
Dear All,
Couples things to address and for comments:
1. Since we will not be playing any international series for the test season, should we play or skip Sofia? If we are to play then it would be 1-8 for Istanbul, 9-10 as alts, 9-16 for Sofia, 17-18 as alts. Alts who are in Istanbul will be excluded from Sofia.
2. How is the new playing format going? 1-2-3 for 32 draws, 2-3-4 for 64 draws and 3-4-5 for 128 draws? The tie break seems to be working so we probably don't ever need to go to whoever posts first in the future. Any comments are welcome.
3. Starting from next year the season will begin from week 1. What I am proposing would be that each week we will choose the tournament from the highest category to be played. When there are just international tournaments that clash, we will choose the tournament that starts latest for the main draw unless a given tournament has higher prize money.
Here is the tentative schedule for 2014:
Code:
01 - Brisbane
02 - Sydney
03 - Australian Open
05 - Paris
07 - Doha
08 - Dubai
09 - [B]Florianopolis[/B]
10 - Indian Wells
12 - Miami
14 - Charleston
15 - [B]Katowice[/B]
17 - Stuttgart
18 - [B]Oeiras[/B]
19 - Madrid
20 - Roma
21 - [B]Brussels or Strasbourg[/B]

31 - Montreal
32 - Cincinnati
33 - [B]New Haven[/B]
34 - US Open
36 - [B]Quebec City[/B]
37 - [B]Guangzhou or Seoul[/B]
38 - Wuhan
39 - Beijing

There will be 10 weeks worth of international tournaments so the 8 qualifiers and alts will be determined based on the champions of each tournament plus points earned. If there are less champions, then we will use the ranking points in order minus the qualifiers who have already qualified and sent for the YEC.
If people think that's too many tournaments and would like to play on reduced schedule, be my guest and throw it out.
4. Proposition for seeding incentives. Since we have a small player base... I am proposing a revised seeding number for the larger tournaments and no seeds for the tournaments with smaller draws... so:
Code:
16 or 8 seeds for 128 draws
8 or 4 seeds for 64 draws
Incentives and advantages on suggestions:
1. Seeds will have the option of submitting a bonus player on the seed's choice of a given hand. The bonus player will replace a player in that hand that earned the least amount of points -or-
2. Seeds will have the option of submitting a bonus player on any given hand. The bonus player will replace any player in that hand that earned less points. If there are multiple players in that situation, the seed may choose who to replace -and/or-
3. Ranking points will be used to determine who wins at the end of a tie break rather than who posts first.
Bonus players will
not be used for perfect hands calculation.
This discussion will be open till end of Roland Garros and will be followed up in each subsequent tournament from Stuttgart.
Thank you for participating!
