Yesterday I went to Antwerp and was interested to see Chakhnashvili. I watched her for the first time and was really impressed by her. She has a good forehand and moved around the court with ease. I spoke to her a bit at the end and she was a nice girl... today she lost to Razzano 75 in the final set but plays doubles with the girl I saw her defeat, Ivanova.
Maka lost the final against Domachowska 57 36 , but still a great week for her!!! Hopefully she'll still play Perigueux this week because she has final points to defend from last year
Maka beat Larriere yesterday 64 64, and she just beat Jing-Jing Lu 64 76(7)!!! She's in the semis of a 50K for the first time since 2007:yeah:! I watched her match against Larriere on the stream and her forehand was amazing. She was driving it hard and using soft angles, which was way too much variety for Victoria to handle consistently. She played really solid overall, but she needs to work on her foot faulting:lol:. She plays very fast and hardly takes any time in between points and change-overs , so the match went by really quickly. After she won, she shook hands, grabbed her bag as quickly as she plays and walked off the court talking to Shapatava. I didn't get to watch the match today, but she must be playing well to take out another seed! You can't tell much from the live score, but she never got herself into too much trouble until the end of the second set. She had two match points at 5-4 second set on her serve and couldn't convert either of them. She held on and won in a super long tiebreak, but I wish she wouldn't have put me through the stress of following such a close score. Enjoy the success Maka, and good luck in the semis!!!
Maka lost to Daniilidou in the semis of Pozoblanco 62 61, but it was still an amazing week for her!!! She plays in a 100K in Biarritz this week and opens up against the fifth seeded Camerin . Maria-Elena is the most beatable of the seeds though, and Maka definitely has a chance if she plays like she did this past week! Good luck Girl!
Maka's not priority 1 at Palermo or Baku this year, so I don't think we'll see her in any of the summer qualies like we usually do this year .
Maka's decision for this week is really confusing me . She could've been seeded in either Palermo or Bad Gastein qualies, but decided instead to play a 25K artificial grass court tournament in Imola, Italy. She's never been too successful on grass, granted her only times playing on the surface were in huge WTA level tournaments, but it just surprises me with the extreme change of surfaces she puts herself through. She played on hard in Pozoblanco, played on clay in Biarritz, will presumably play on grass(carpet) this coming week, and back to clay the following week in Petange. She must really like variety . Oh well, I will always be a huge supporter anyway! Good luck Maka!!!
I love the pic of Maka and Eleni at the net before the match by the way!
I got really bored on my flight so I decided to go back and look at all of Maka's ITF titles. She's won 10 singles titles over her career - 5 10Ks(2 on hard, 3 on clay), 4 25ks(all 4 on clay), and 1 50K(on clay) - and 4 doubles titles - 1 10K(on clay with Senoglu), 2 25Ks(1 on hard with Davydova, and 1 on clay with Olaru), and 1 50K(on clay with Beygelzimer)! Congratulations Maka!!! :yeah:
Maka plays a qualifier or lucky loser in R1 of the 100K in Petange, Luxembourg!!!! I know it's not a 100% guaranteed victory, but Maka will definitely have the ranking advantage!!! Good luck girly!!!!
Maka beat Vivienne Vierin in R1 of Petange today!!! That's 18 points and a nice chunk of prize money! With the 8 points from Imola and these, she should be in the top 200 next week!!! :yeah: She plays Cetkovska in the next round , but I know Maka can do it !
I swore someone on my twitter feed said Maka lost to Jugic-Salkic (I wasn't sure who Maka was playing because I haven't been paying too much attention to this draw) so it's a nice surprise to see she won and took advantage of a good draw. I'm also glad she's playing ITF events and not WTA qualies, like she unsuccessfully did this time last year.
- Maka is into US Open qualies easily
- Maka is playing Swiss Interclubs the next few weeks just like she did last summer
- Maka's team is Olivia Sanchez(FRA), Maria Abramovic(CRO), Michel Lara(SUI), Céline Cattaneo(FRA/SUI), Gaëlle Widmer(SUI), Imane Maëlle Kocher(SUI), and Mélina Gonzalez(SUI)
- She played Irina Buryachok and won 60 63 in her first singles match
- Partnered with Maria Abramovic, she won her first doubles match against Buryachok/Sabino 76 64 :yeah:
- She played and lost to Bammer 63 62 in the next club match
- Again partnering Abramovic, she won against Bammer/Gehrlein 26 63 107
- She didn't play singles in the next match, but lost a close doubles match with Abramovic against Vögele/Knoll 36 76 610
