Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
Caro vs Aga and Vika vs Kerber...... tournament of pushers? (i know Vika is a pusher only against superagressive players, but still) And all players are in really bad form , even pushers are in bad form ))))
This tournament is a joke..... As for me if Masha advances to the SF , it will be enough
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
We've seen so much bad tennis in this tournament already.
I look forward to some of the matchups but I really worry about the quality of the next matches.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
In 3 months, I shall
But I've gotta say, even though Maria's playing like shit, I love how aggressive she's been in her last couple matches. Really going after her shots. It'll pay off eventually.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
I still think Vika is making the final  I love her(kind of), but she probably just has a bad cold and was doing the usual overdramatics today. She was playing quite well today when she was focussed.

Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
I have no idea what is going on, but something is bugging Masha; she is too demonstrative of her bad mood.. And in all honesty, I do not know if she can beat Stosur with this form.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
One thing that is in Maria's favour is that these courts play much quicker than the YEC and Stuttgart where the last 2 Stosur-Sharapova matches were played. And I think this is one of the few match-ups where we can still definitively say a quicker court gives Maria more chance  The court speed is probably similar to Cincinnati, where Maria managed to beat Sam fairly comfortably last year (a couple of weeks before Sam won the USO) despite being below her best that tournament.
That said, of course all that won't matter if it's peak Crapova that shows up.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
Also, why is this tournament determined for me not to see Maria's matches? It looks like I won't be able to see her til Saturday if when she's in the final.

Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
I got lucky with ES for two days, but if tomorrow they're starting to play at 6AM I guess there will be no way for me to see her at least on tv. :\
BTW I'm not really confident, but I don't want to be so pessimistic like Craig after all everyone seems to be playing like shit in this tour...

I mean, I don't want to be either, but I can't help it. I just speak from experience. Whenever Maria's played like shit throughout a tournament and met a top player, she's either had to fight through a hot mess 3-setter or she's gotten beaten in pretty routine fashion. I'm hoping for the former of course.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
I actually love the her outift even though I've only seen pics. Loved the skirt at OG, and even though the top has grey in it the grey skirt is Fugly. I was about to type how she should get past Sam maybe in 3 if she's sloppy. Then I remembered Sam rips BH winners for fun against her these days. Bitch will have to bring and she better.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
And dsanders, never mention 'love' and Vika in the same sentence unless it contains the phrase 'when Maria annihilates her'. You have come to far for this fuckery.
Although I agree she's good for the game and I think Maria/Vika will have a potentially great rivalry so I have grudging respect for her.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
Just read where Vika had some dizzy spells in her match yesterday and had to have her blood pressure checked during the match. She has not been feeling well and they don't know what's wrong with her. I hate to see anyone get sick or injured, but this could be a good break for Maria! She still has a shot at No. 1, if Vika stumbles the door definitely opens for her. I think if Vika loses to Kerber and Maria wins the tournament she would pass Vika in the race for Istanbul.
Re: Tokyo 2012: Maria gets Fast and Furious in Tokyo
Honestly Vika should just skip Beijing. This season has been a phenomenal improvement for her physically. I wasn't even sure she would last till the USO given her history. I can't think of a more profound improvement over an offseason tbh. It would be a shame to end the season with a string of withdrawals/injury. Win or lose here she should just rest up for the YEC. I feel the same about Maria. This season has taken it's toll on the shoulder. She's the only player to recover from this injury and one of very few athletes from all sports. Still, these tears traditionally reoccur and she CANNOT afford to get sloppy with her rehab. I'm sure she knows this but we all know how stubborn she is - as shown by her 6-months-too-early comeback.
I'm sorry for the mini-rant, I just become a hot mess towards the end of the season. I just want an injury-free end so bad.

Do not jinx her now... Let's hope she'll stay OK throughout the rest of the season AND those exos.
The bolded part - cannot be sure about 'all sports' - I have spent quite some time searching about this injury and found out there wer quite a few baseball players who came back... The problem with it is - it tends to occurr to older people more often(in 30s, 40s, 60s) who are involved in sports for recreation and semi-professioanlly and a lot of articles can be found. But very few for pro tennis players. Of the newer generations I know only of Rafter having it operated and Maria...
Yes, these types of injuries can reoccur, but the arthroscopic operation and good rehabilitation seem to give good results - around 80% of people return to their previous level. And the outcome of course in the end depends on: type of tissue, and more importantly size of the tear in the rotator cuff.
