As I mentioned before, March will be a very diffucult month for Despina in terms of defending points. She will play next week in a 10k in Israel in the main draw. However, she withdrew from the tournament in Egypt the following week, and then the week of the 16th she is not on any list. She had opportunities in GBR in January, but the draws were bad for her
Since the Greek March ITF's won't be held this year, it muct be tough for Despina to miss school and stuff
She has 8 points to defend, so a final in the Israeli tournament will get her there. That is unlikely, so hopefully she can play another ITF towards the end of March:shrug:
It will be sad that these Greek girls won't have the opportunity to play in ITF's this Spring. The men's May tournaments haven't been added yet either, even though the national federation's website has them added
On the postitive side, regardless of how Despina does this month, she will stay ranked
She has nothing to defend from April until September, so it will be a great chance for Despina to breakthrough. She has no junior(u-18) points to defend until August
I think she gave up on u-16's as she was year end #3 as a 15 year old, and she hasn't played anymore tournaments and is still #3
It's nice that she is making that transition from u-16 to u-18
Now she only has 2 tours to focus on, plus the Greek national ones. Anyways, Pame Despina!!
