Stable position in the NR until Anastasia Rodionova!
However some good evolutions in the World ranking.
Nadia reached her ever best WR at n°4. It seems that she erached another dimension in her game winning 2 tournements in a row in April (3rd of the year and 4th of her carreer). At Amelia Island Tier II, she won the tournement as Top seed beating 3rd seed/n°13 dangerous Schiavone. At Charleston, she took the crown after a 3 sets victory over 3rd seed/n°9 Schnyder. She's got big ambition for Roland Garros and starts to challenge the Top russian player status vs Sharapova.
Vera Dushevian is back to the world Top 50 after a 3rd rd at Amelia Island falling to 2nd seed/n°9 Schnyder.
Elena Vesnina keeps rising in the world ranking. She made it to the 3rd round at Amelia Island upsetting 8th seed/n°19 italian Pennatta dropping only 3 games.
Very bad month for Ekaterina Bychkova who lost 3 times in a row in the 1rst round (vs n°51 Dushevina at Amelia Island, qualifer n°80 Alona bondarenko at Charleston and n°111 Rodionova at $75K challenger Cagnes s/mer). She's the biggest ranking slump of the month (excepted Elena Bovina because of her injury).
Vasilisa in the best ranking progression of the month...up 1 spot in the NR and 34 in the WR. She played the american ITF tour winning 2 $25K challengers in a row: at Pelham vs 8th seed/n°203 Perianu and at Jackson vs 5th seed/n°154 canadian Dubois. At $75K Dothan challenger, she was may be a little beat tired and was forced to retire in the 2nd rd vs 8th seed/n°144 Poutchkova.
Olga is the 2nd best rising of the month: +2 places in the NR and 28 in the WR. Like Vasilisa, she played the north american challenger tour. She won $25K Hammond ousting 4th seed/n°153 Bardina en route. At Dothan $75K, she reached the QF with once again a victory over Bardina before falling to eventual champion 3rd seed/n°111 Fedak.
At least, Lioudmila is the new entry of the month. She also played on the challenger tour. 1rst at $75K Dinan, she ousted 10th seed/n°131 Poutchek before losing to rising french n°140 Rezai. At $75K Dothan she made it to the QF with a victory over 7th seed/n°140 Voskoboevea in a thrilling 3 sets match before falling to eventual runner up 4th seed/n°130 Lepchenko.
