The PYW WTA Tour Championships Thread [FINAL Started!]

PYW WTA Tour Championships

The Staples Center in Los Angeles is playing host to the 2005 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships. After a thrilling season, the top players packed their racquets to arrive in the sunny state of California, to give us avid tennis fans one final shot of magnificent tennis before the WTA season ends.

Thank you! The PYW circuit has enjoyed some huge successes on the board. At the end of the season, except for some ITF events, the PYW Administrators would like to thank everyone who voted for taking part in the game. We hope that we can count many of your votes in the course of this event and in the many events to follow!

How could the players qualify? The PYW WTA Tour Championships will be slightly different from the actual championships. We decided not only to include the eight best players in reality, but also the eight best players in PYW who are not part of the real eight best. This means a total of sixteen players will fight hard to be crowned the ultimate PYW champion of the year.

The sixteen players will be divided into four groups of four players, with the best two players in each group coming through. After the round robin matches, there will be a knock-out system with only one woman standing. Not only are there many quality points up for grabs, there are also many tournament points to be claimed. The tension among the players is mounting...

How will the voting and scoring work? In the round robin situation you will be able to vote for two matches per group, so for eight matches in total. After that, another eight matches will be played until the round robin has been completed. The winner of a match gets two points; a loser gets no points. If, after all group matches have been played, two or more players might have the same amount of points, the position in the group is determined by looking at the set, and if necessary, game ratio.

So join in when the Championships start! Vote your favourites to ultimate glory and shoot them up the rankings!
