Both played 10K Istanbul 3 weeks ago btw. Having to start with qualies.
Maryna lost in Q1 to Victoria Vorontsova, 2 & 4.
Bad luck, almost everyone else got a bye in Q1 (Nadiya did), and Vorontsova is an unfortunate opponent to meet in Q1.
(She qualified double bagelling seed 3 Guldas in Q2, and won a match in MD).
But Nadiya qualified and reached the QF
Best result of the year for her.
She had a bye in Q1, and double-bagelled Janina Mistecky in Q2 to qualify.
Then, she beat Tamari Chalaganidze 3 & 2 in R1, and (1)Basak Eraydin, 7-5 7-6(2) in R2.
Eraydin is #340 currently and has been in Top 300 (CHR 276). This is the biggest win of Nadiya's career, undeniably.
Sadly, she could confirm it and lost to (7)Cristina Adamescu in QF, 7-5 3-6 0-6.
Too bad she lost after taking the 1st set, but Adamescu made it to the final afterwards though (lost to (2)Clothilde de Bernardi in straight sets in the final
Hopefully, Nadya will build on this.
And Maryna will be inspired to win some matches too.
