Re: Steffi Graf Admiration Thread Vol 2
On the eve of the Hamburg tournament some number of fans endured drizzling rain in hopes Steffi would make an appearance on the practice courts. But Steffi was having a day at the races. Note that she only got to sit in the car, not drive it, which was likely for the best.

HOCKENHEIM, West Germany - Tennis wunderkind Steffi Graf discovered a new thrill Sunday when she attended the West German Grand Prix Formula One auto race.
The Wimbledon champion has a special interest in the local Rial team. The team is owned by West German wheel magnate and Graf family friend Gunter Schmid.
Graf, 19, got to sit in the high-revving Rial racer while it was started in the pit lane of the Hockenheimring track.
"It was a very good feeling, very exciting," she said. "Everything was moving and vibrating."
Graf lives in a small town outside Mannheim, which is just down the autobahn from Hockenheimring.
