We already know that Stacy Allaster's barn-born-and-raised nephews--Fester,Beavis and Bubba--run the WTA webpage.Another classic from yesterday was when the editorial geniuses managed to twice mention, within the space of a couple lines, that Vinci had beaten Domi 5 times in a row. Maybe they posted it twice for extra emphasis, huh?
However, there must be a part-time consultant whom the WTA calls on once in a while because, on rare occasions, there are signs of common sense. As most of you know, there's a vertical list of recent news items that's situated to the right of the flash photos/major headlines at the top of the page.Previously, as they counted down the first 16 #1s in WTA history, from Evert to Sharapova, there was a newsline that accompanied each entry. Wisely, though, when they reached numbers 17 and 18, the two Serbs, those two career summaries weren't listed amongst the big news items of late. You had to click on the "40 Love" sub-heading to get to those career resumes, and the writer was very professional and tactful in acknowledging that those two players don't have anywhere NEAR the accomplishments that the other #1s do...and he/she did so in a way w/o insulting the lesser players OR pretending that they're better than they actually are.......I don't think that Festus and his brothers could've pulled that off
