There was a Tennis Europe tournament in Birkerød
this week (U14 & U16)
Sofie Bjerringgaard was unseeded but had an impressive run winning four matches until she lost 5-7 6-3 6-1 in the semi final. Ida Krause, Hannah Møller, Rebekka Hillingsø, and Elena Jamshidi all won their 1st round matches but lost R2.
Sofie Bjerringgaard/Ida Krause reached the doubles final (to be played today), and Helena Francati/Rebekka Hillingsø reached the semi final.
The best Danish U16 girls were playing at the Odense ITF this week but Sille Tranberg did a good job in Birkerød reaching the semi final where she lost a close match 6-3 7-6(7) to the 2nd seeded Russian girl. All other Danish U16 girls lost in R1 or R2. Sille Tranberg has become a really good player although she was never among the elite juniors in Denmark. Her form has been remarkable lately. She was also the best Danish U16 girl at another Tennis Europe tournament in Denmark back in May, where she also reached the SF.
The doubles tournament saw another good performance by Sille, as she and her twin sister, Emma Tranberg, reached the final (to be played today). They're up against a Danish-Swedish team, Sidsel Dahl Pehrson (DEN)/Hana Sisirak (SWE).
