15 year old Emilie Francati keeps progressing in a remarkable way. Recently she won the first Danish ITF title in almost two years, a week ago she became U16 champion, and today she won the SF at a Danish GP tournament defeating Maria Jespersen 64 64. Maria (21 years of age) has become quite good lately and has reached a SF at a 10K, and has also defeated Mai Grage recently. Maria is a likely candidate for the Fed Cup Team next month - especially since both Barbat and Ejdesgaard suffer with some small injuries. But perhaps Emilie deserves a Fed Cup spot more? I think it's quite likely that she'll be nominated for the Team although I doubt she'll get the chance to play.
Emilie Francati's opponent in today's GP final is Anna Signe Rasmussen, who had a cakewalk to the final, while Emilie has faced much better opponents. But Anna has actually become quite good lately after she's started playing pro tournaments.
