Born circa 1893 or 1894
Died 17 August 1941 (when she was 47) in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
Married (1) Felix Brunot Snowden (1888-), between March and September 1917, divorced 1937
Married (2) Edwin S. Hingst, 1937 a month after the divorce
Active 1910s-1936

Reached the SF of the 1915 US Nationals, losing to Molla Bjurstedt (later Mallory), the eventual winner. Martha was ranked #8 in the US in 1916. Married by 30 Spetember 1917, when she plays matches in Pittsburgh for the Red Cross.

Daughter Martha G Snowden, born in 1932, living with her father and grandmother in 1940 according to the census. In the 1930 census the couple lived in Pisttsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Her husband divorced his "socialite" wife, complaining that she caused him frequent humiliation through her excessive drinking.

Rewed to a Mr Hingst and living on a houseboat, she died when the boat caught fire in August of 1941. Her will left $3,000 to her first spouse and her daughter. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id...+snowden&hl=en

She had met Hingst when he was a taxi driver, and conveyed her to her home from the railroad station. (read on page 1 and 6)
