I thought Maria was ok today, nothing more. I don't know about anyone else, but I actually thought she seemed to be playing deliberately more conservatively today -- she didn't seem to be going for as much from the first shot of the rally as she has for most of this tournament, and she was smothering her forehand with more topspin a la Claypova. I guess I can't complain seeing as she got through so comfortably, but I do think she's going to have to be better next round

Azarenka was in exactly same # of time in Serena's half (0 times in QF) in last 5 slams as Maria. (Radwanska even less, only 1 of 5...) And nobody cares about the rest. But whatever.
About Makarova match, I wouldnt take much from it, she is different matchup than previous or upcoming opponents. Also someone said Maria had to warm up like 7 times before because of that total joke Almugro, and usually when she has to wait she is way more messy.
But yeah, she has to do better. I'm just hoping serve & return will hold up, rest will follow. Though I'm not exactly scared by Na right now.
