Re: Afroditi Latinopoulou!

Since the last update, Afroditi has played some tournaments. First, she played the Larissa Sports Center Open, a Greek non-ITF money tournament. She won it all, beating Danielants 6-2 6-2, Kagga 6-3 6-3, and Christopoulou 6-3 6-3 .

She then played the Greek National Championships, where she reached the final in singles and semis in doubles (with her BFF Antigoni Kleftouri) . In singles, she won 6-4 7-6 over Malamou, 6-0 6-0 over Tsaoutou, 6-1 6-2 over Baka, 4-6 6-1 6-4 over I.Markesini, and then lost in the final 4-6 2-6 to Stefanou . In doubles, Afroditi and Antigoni beat Argyriou/Gennimata 6-1 6-1, Markesini/Markesini 6-1 7-6, before losing 2-6 6-3 4-10 to eventual champions Christopoulou/Papageorgiou

Then she hit the ITF circuit . At the 10K event in Kalamata, she shockingly beat (Q) Grammatikopoulou 6-3 6-3, before losing 0-6 6-7(6) in the second round to (5) van Riet (NED, #649, eventual semifinalist). I just hope she didn't have MPs in that one

Then she got a MDWC for the tournament in Mytilini where she lost 4-6 3-6 in R1 to (4) Daniels (GER, #579, eventual semi finalist)

And then she played the 10K in Heraklion and lost R1 3-6 7-6 1-6 to (6) Pushkareva (RUS, #753)

Overall, some promising results and she SHOULD get back in the WTA ranks list by the end of the year, as she's scheduled to play more tournaments and she only needs one more point. It's just a little discouraging that she has lost some close matches this year...
