Joyce Rymer (Fitch).
We are saddened to record the passing of one of our members, Joyce Rymer who died recently after a short illness.

She was a finalist in the Australian Singles in 1946 and won the doubles that year as well as partnering John Bromwich and reaching the finals four times during the post war period. She was a member of the Last Eight Club.
Joyce retired from tennis in 1951 when she married Aucklander, John Rymer and the couple embarked on their new life in the Anglican ministry. John Rymer, as many of you will know, became Dean of the Auckland and passed away about 8 years ago.
Joyce joined the Parnell Tennis Club, playing Interclub and coaching juniors there. She also helped at the ASB Classic for 20 years in the Ladies’ locker room with Cavell Morgan. She was recognised for her services by Tennis Auckland at the Classic when she retired from the job about 3 years ago.
