In September, ‘Open Court’ travels to Germany to meet some of the stars who dominated tennis in the 1980s and 90s. Host Pat Cash interviews the world’s longest-running World Number One Steffi Graf, and has a hit with Michael Stich in Hamburg.
The programme also travels to meet Boris Becker, the youngest player ever to become Wimbledon champion, in his hometown of Leimen. Here, the former world number one takes the programme on an exclusive tour of his hometown, and visits the Leimen club where he learned the game.
But this edition isn’t all about the past, as ‘Open Court’ also turns its eye to the future. World number seven Angelique Kerber is leading a talented group of young female players from Germany that are moving up the ranks. Having beaten the likes of Serena and Venus Williams, she tells ‘Open Court’ how confident she feels stepping out on court.
