It's one thing to have an opinion that someone's ranking is "grossly inflated". Subjecting someone's name to rude puns on the tournament's official website is another.
The other thing is that a lot of TF posters use even derogatory nicks for their faves as kind of endearments, or as ways to vent when we're upset when we think they underperform. I've certain called Lena D. "Demented," Wickmayer "Witchmayer", Andrea H. "Chipmunk", Azarenak "Vuvurenka", Venus "Vinas", etc. and they are some of my favorite players. And Lord knows I've made enough jokes about Jo-La's backhand.
And yes, a lot of our player nicknames are lame, or even unfathomable to people who don't follow TF. But that's part of the stupid fun of having a place like this.
But I agree that sort of name calling has no place on the US Open web site.
