Well whilst we are on the subject of Canadians - I used to really like Leonard "slash your wrists" Cohen. I loved thsoe depressing songs with the weird lyrics like:

In a different field (F1) - I regard Canada's Gilles Villeneuve as one of the best drivers I've seen. A tragedy when he was killed. He never won a world championship but was miles better IMO than his son Jacques Villeneuve who did.
