Not a "cow on ice" anymore

I've been wondering about this, and it certainly has to be asked after today's splendid result... why is Maria so good on clay now? It's almost becoming her best surface! One of the main things that intrigues me about this is that this rise to success on clay has happened post-injury. Is there any correlation with that? Discuss.
