Ana Ivanovic and Maria Kirilenko will star Russia take on Serbia in a thrilling Fed Cup semi-final over the weekend.

Russia have been one of the giants in Fed Cup in recent years, their abundance of talent helping them to four successes since 2004. However with Maria Sharapova not competing, Elena Dementieva retired and Svetlana Kuznetsova not the force she once was, things aren't quite as rosy these days and Serbia will be eyeing up a place in the final.

These two nations faced each other in the first round a couple of years ago and despite Jelena Jankovic recording two singles wins, the Russians edged a 3-2 victory.

Jankovic isn't at her best this time and her performance over the weekend could prove crucial. A resurgent Ana Ivanovic will be expected to win both her singles rubbers after the form she's shown in recent weeks.

Maria Kirilenko will be leading the Russians given that Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Kuznetsova have slipped down the rankings. However Kirilenko hasn't had a great experience of the competition so far in her career, losing to Petra Kvitova in November's final and getting thumped by Kim Clijsters five years ago.

Prediction: Don't be surprised if Serbia run away with the tie and win it 4-1.
