Of course it's important. It would be a wonderful achievement. But I'm really happy to be playing something that I really love. I don't look ahead and think how amazing it would be to hold the trophy. Obviously I'm very fortunate to have had that feeling before and knowing how good that feeling is. That's what drives you deep down inside. But I also think on the other hand if you want something so bad that you can't sleep over it, where is that going to get you, as well? I think time will tell and you just have to be patient and work as hard as you can and give it all you have, and then the rest will take care of itself.

I had completely forgotten that during 2004, and probably all the way up until she won her second Slam in 2006 people couldn't stop talking about whether she should be Russian or American. Like those people had any say in it.
I remember once a journalist said something about her speaking American so well, and Maria replied "I don't speak American nothing, I speak English"
