Zinderstein did at least some serve and volleying, as the New York Times makes explicit when it wrote that she "was able to come in close for volleying and finished off many a rally at the net, often following in on service with conspicuous success." Marion scored 13 winners in the frist set and 17 in the second set. It was a devastating display that made her a good bet for the US Championship.
