From "Lawn Tennis and Badminton", August 19, 1896: "On Tuesday, August 11, the eighth annual meeting, promoted by the Trefriw Improvement Company, was begun on the picturesque grounds in the Conway Valley. The meeting was concluded on Saturday last. The entry was excellent, and the five courts, although somewhat slow, were in excellent order; and the weather, with the exception of Thursday afternoon, when rain stopped play, was fine."
