Re: Angelique Kerber: ''my heart is in Poland, here is my home and family''

My German is a little rusty- I used to be fluent 20+ years ago, but now get maybe 90% of the conversation.

From watching this interview, I can tell Angie was pretty much on a repeat loop from one...

Re: Kerber - incredibly sexy

I'm surprised no one mentioned her very sexy, feminine grunt. I noticed it long time ago that Angelique has probably the most pleasant grunt of all the female tennis players.

Re: How Aga made it to Semis?

Had Serena lost her concentration like against Vinci, or FSM forbid injured herself, Aga would be a big favorite to win the title. Aga has been knocking on the door for a while now. Eventually the...

Re: AO SF: Serena Williams polishes off Radwanska 6-0 6-4

Mixed feelings on this one because I'm a fan of both, but deep down I really pulled for Serena. Congrats to the Queen.
Aga will win a Slam or two in her time. It will take someone like Cornet to...

How does Monica Puig pronounce her last name?

I heard at least three different pronunciations just during just the last match commentary
1. Pweeg
2. Poch
3. Pooj (with very soft "j")

Arantxa tended to say Pooj, while the Aussie commentator...

Re: But actually...how relevant are Court's Slams?

Go and look at the draws in the 1960's AO. It was a 32 to 56 player field (depending on the year), with first round byes and fewer than 5 non Australians in the draw....

Re: BOMBSHELL: Saviano and Stephens split

Sloane should seek career advice from Donald Young. Her career is following the same path at this point. Both extremely promising AA talents at young age with a lot of interest from the USTA...

Re: Johnny Mac: Serena for President of the USA

Identity politics and political correctness.

Re: Johnny Mac: Serena for President of the USA

The whole article is a translation, and not very good at that. I'm pretty sure John McEnroe does not use the term, it's just the person translating it back to English didn't do a very good job.

Re: 2015 YEC F: La Profesora AGAcadabra def. Petra Kvitová 6-2, 4-6, 6-3

If this is the new norm after Serena retires, then it only serves as proof that Serena is the true GOAT. Without her in the competition, it seems (at least initially) that it's random scrubs winning...

Re: pics of players with their parents

Simona got her mom's eyes and her dad's nose.

But looking at the other pictures in the thread, the old saying "before you marry a girl, check out her mother" is very true. A lot of the girls look...

Re: 2015 YEC F: La Profesora AGAcadabra def. Petra Kvitová 6-2, 4-6, 6-3

All of Aga haters, stop please with the losses on the way to the title arguments.
Aga has won 3 matches, and no one in the tournament has won more matches than her. She has won the more important...

Year End Rankings?

Anyone got the updated rankings after today? Aga is adding some points, enough to pass Petra I take, but most likely not enough to go any higher than 5.

Re: 2015 YEC F: La Profesora AGAcadabra def. Petra Kvitová 6-2, 4-6, 6-3

What a tacky trophy, draped with about a dozed ribbons with the sponsor's name on it. Not even trying to be subtle about self promotion.

Re: 2015 YEC F: La Profesora AGAcadabra def. Petra Kvitová 6-2, 4-6 6-3

Her good career just became a great career, regardless of how it goes from here.

Re: YEC SF: (5) Aga Radwańska def. (2) Garbiñe Muguruza 6-7, 6-3, 7-5

I predict Kvitova in the final. It will be tight, but Aga will get the first big title of her career.

Re: Is the cygs a bigger deal than the non-cygs?

You fail at statistics. There are five women who have won 4 GS in a row, three of which managed to do it in a calendar year.
If you count the Slam winning streaks, all the women other than Serena...

Re: ESPN First Take Discusses Serena v. Maria

Bingo. When Justine was the top player, did she get better endorsements than Serena?
Also, some years back when Roger and Rafa ruled the ATP, Andy Roddick outsold them both in merchandise and...

Re: Madison and the race issue

From what I saw in the articles, he was pointed out to the undercover cops by someone as a credit card fraudster and that's why they tackled him. Saying that he was assaulted purely because he is...

Re: Three 30+ year olds in the USO SFs...what does it say?

Caroline Garcia's dad summed it up pretty well a few weeks ago. What applies to Caroline is systemic. Youngsters today are not trained to be versatile. Coaches train them to be power hitters first,...
