Re: US Open R3: Ekaterina Makarova def. Sabine Lisicki 75 64

The US Open surface is more similar to clay than grass. You need a solid baseline game to win.

Re: Who is more mentally tough: Sharapova or Azarenka?

You could argue that Sharapova is mentally tougher than Serena. She has been a consistent top player and four-time Slam winner despite a lack of talent, athleticism and tactics. You never see her...

Re: Is the US Open now slower than the Australian Open?

USO is still faster, but they are both slow hard courts at this point.

Re: PUSHERS don´t WIN slams!!!!

I think her first serve is average at best. Today she won 60% of her first-serve points, averaging 91 mph with one ace. That's been the norm for her from what I've seen.

Re: Handshake FAILS

This really doesn't serve five pages in 40 minutes. Take your Aga hate to a place where it's more justified: http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=562793

Re: PUSHERS don´t WIN slams!!!!

Vika is a grinder, not a pusher. As one poster mentions, her game resembles Djokovic.

Aga is about 60% pusher and 40% shotmaker/tactician. She differs from true pushers like Wozniacki in that she...

Re: Wimbledon SF: SABINE LISICKI def. Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4 / 2-6 / 9-7

Just watched the handshake after missing it live. Didn't see a problem with it. Aga was disappointed after missing a great opportunity and wanted to leave ASAP. Of course she could have handled it...

Re: Wimbledon SF: SABINE LISICKI def. Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4 / 2-6 / 9-7

For those saying the result is bad for tennis, Lisicki doesn't play the proper way, etc.... Sabine has a wide variety of shots, as we saw in this match with drop shots, angled shots, lobs,...

Re: Wimbledon SF: SABINE LISICKI def. Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4 / 2-6 / 9-7

Sabine... you didn't need to make it so difficult! But the comeback from 0-3 in the third was no surprise. She plays her best with her back to the wall and her worst with the lead. Just imagine what...

Re: TF Betting Thread

What sites are best for U.S. players to bet on tennis? I might want to create some accounts in the next few weeks.

Re: Wooden Spoon Thread. WWW Wimbledon

For Wimbledon it will likely be Arruabarrena or future top-10 Razzano.

Re: Respect for Kirsten, Marion, Agnieszka and Sabine.

That's fine -- those players deserved to win. But Serena and Sharapova played awful, and Kvitova wasn't much better. I'd rather see them lose while playing at least average.

Re: Respect for Kirsten, Marion, Agnieszka and Sabine.

There's no reason to disrespect any of them, but it's unfortunate what happened to Azarenka, Sharapova, Serena and Kvitova. The tour is better when they perform well in Slams.

Re: Wimbledon QF: Lisicki d. Kanepi 63 63

Sabine played well for most of the match and never lost her edge. But she may need to serve better and hit more consistently from the baseline to beat Aga. The drop shots work great against the likes...

Re: WWW Wimbledon SF: [23] Sabine Lisicki vs [4] Agnieszka Radwanska

Could go either way, but I lean toward Lisicki because it's on her racquet and she's in great form.

I respect Aga's grass game, but this statement almost never applies to her. She relies on...

Re: Is this the worst Wimbledon ever?

No, because it is rewarding grass-court tennis, which is the best kind of tennis. And upsets aren't terrible. The injuries/retirements suck, but it doesn't look like many are too serious.

Re: Sabine Lisicki the Roland Garros Champions slayer, 4 times in a row now!

Wonder how often, if ever, this has been done before. Nadal beat the AO champion at RG in three straight years (06 Federer, 07 Federer, 08 Djokovic). Four if you count 2009, when Nadal won the AO and...

Re: Down To Elite Eight: Who Will Win 2013 ITF Wimbledon GS 2000 ???

Because her next two opponents are far easier than any of the other seven quarterfinalists'. And she's likely to play her way into better form for the final.

Re: Down To Elite Eight: Who Will Win 2013 ITF Wimbledon GS 2000 ???

I know Sabine has underachieved at times, but she's shown up for a lot of big matches:

Wimbledon '09 (def. No. 5 Kuznetsova)
Wimbledon '09 (def. No. 9 Wozniacki)
RG 2011 (took No. 2 Zvonareva to...

Re: Down To Elite Eight: Who Will Win 2013 ITF Wimbledon GS 2000 ???

I changed my mind -- Kvitova should be the favorite and I voted for her. The difference between the top four is so small, but Kvitova has the easiest draw.

Re: Wimbledon 4R: [8]Kvitova def. [19] Suarez-Navarro 76(5) 63

The real winner of this match was Sam Smith. Saying what we're all thinking and then some.

Re: Wimbledon R4: SABINE LISICKI DEF SERENA WILLIAMS 6-2 1-6 6-4

Really odd match from Serena. She was outserved on grass, which almost never happens, and she pushed during most of the rallies. I'll give Sabine credit for being aggressive from the start, but a...

Re: Wimbledon R4: Radwanska def. Pironkova 4-6 6-3 6-3

Good match from both. But Pironkova needed to play great to beat this Radwanska because of the matchup problem. Aga was superb in the third set and served OK throughout.

I suppose Aga is now a...
