Re: I've never seen the sportsmanship of Federer on the womens tour

Re: Peak Kvitova vs Peak Davenport Wimbledon final?

Fact: Kvitova almost loses to 34 year old Venus Williams on her run to the 2014 Wimbledon Title.

Fact: Davenport had match points against a 25 year old Venus during her prime in the 2005 Wimbledon...

Re: I Am Sad For Peng BUT McEnroe is right.

It was a Semi-Final of a Grand Slam. Officials were always going to be more lenient...people in the stands paid good money to watch that match finish.

Re: Who is greater now, Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis?

Yeah that's what people said when she came back in 2006. I remember forum polls saying she wouldn't even make top 100, let alone top 50. Yet, she proved all the haters wrong and made top 10 the same...

Re: Who is greater now, Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis?

I would also like to add that not 1 player ever dominated Hingis in the H2H count. This compared with Sharapova, who has a hideous H2H with Serena (16-2 :tape: ). In the past 4 years, Sharapova has...

Re: Hingis gets called Legend for doing way less than Radwanska does

It's nice to see Radwanska improving, but she is no Hingis. The only thing Radwanska does better than Hingis is maybe the serve. Radwanska has improved her serve a lot and has helped her get in...

Re: Li Na: "it's the first time the WTA Championships are in Asia"

Agreed to an extent. But no way would it be considered racist.

Re: Li Na: "it's the first time the WTA Championships are in Asia"

Not just East Asians. At least here in So Cal, people commonly refer Asians to East Asians, not Indian or Iranian for example. Hence the stereotype "Asians are smart," are they referring to ALL...

Re: Why Chinese players are called GF, why not red flowers, yellow flowers etc?

Hmm...reading this I had no idea it originated from Japan. I know it's hugely popular in Taiwan to the point where you will see it in most restaurants here.

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

I forgot to mention...Japanese surnames are not quite the same as Korean or Chinese surnames. This is because a couple hundred years back, majority of Japan did not have surnames, only the royalties...

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

Yes I understand the other parts you're trying to explain, but in Wades-Giles it's Peking...hence Vania King has her last name (金) as King not Ping or Jing.

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

Like some previous posters mentioned...it looks the same when you type it out in Latin alphabets, but when you speak it there is actually a difference because Chinese is a monosyllabic language with...

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

You don't seem to understand...Wades-Giles system is still widely used in Taiwan and has nothing to do with Hong Kong. Hsieh is the Wades-Giles spelling for writing 謝, whereas in Pinyin it would be...

Re: Why all the Chinese players have so similar names?

That's not true. It's because the "Western" name was changed from the Wades-Giles system (still used in Taiwan) to pinyin. Hence, in Taiwan the capital is Taipei, not Taibei. Same reason why 张 is...

Oh trust me I've already reported that racist. Hope he gets the ban soon. I suggest everyone do the same. Racism should not be tolerated on this forum.
