Re: Tennis at 2010 Commonwealth Games

Good to hear Claire Curran co-commentating with Chris Bradnam on the Rogowska match. Doesn't look like there'll be much, if any, tennis on BBC's red button service tomorrow.

Re: Tennis at 2010 Commonwealth Games

Looking at BBC's schedule for Monday in Delhi on their website, here's the bits which could contain tennis. Certainly using the red button on Sky / Virgin or Iplayer looks the most promising. Should...

Re: What event would you like to see replace Warsaw?

So is Warsaw struggling for sponsors that week then? Not surprised as whilst it offers more prize money than Strasbourg, doesn't really attract a significantly better draw (or much of a crowd) as...

Re: Which day is the best to visit a tournament?

Tuesday is 1st choice for me, as the maximum number of 1st round main draw matches, followed by opening Saturday, because of the even greater number of qualifying matches, and that it's often free....

Re: Tennis at 2010 Commonwealth Games

I hope BBC show the tennis (probably via the red button). The likelihood of coverage has probably increased as most of our top athletes, gymnasts and cyclists have withdrawn!!!

Re: Who is your favorite Swiss tennis player ever..?!

It's has to be Timea for me, though I do like Patty too. The drugs scandal has damaged my opinion of Hingis, I'm afraid!
It's a real shame for me, that there's now no ladies tournaments in...

Re: Who is your favorite current Asian player?

Akgul, but only just ahead of Sania. I saw a decent junior from Oman at Roland Garros last year, Al-Nabhani, I think was her name. Does she have a senior ITF ranking yet?

Re: Lucie Ahl

I quite like Lucie Ahl on Eurosport. No, she's not quite as interesting as Sam Smith, but I prefer Ahl to Jo Durie. Overall though, I think my top commentary team is David Mercer and Annabel Croft....

Re: WTA Players All Glammed up in Photo Shoots or Off Court Events (2009 edition)

Does anyone have any photos / links to photos of existing WTA / ITF players in Xmas outfits? Looking for one for my background for my office computer, since it's getting more Christmassy (the tree...

Re: 2 where are they's.

What were the "heart problems" for Karin Knapp? Sounds pretty serious.

Re: [Unofficial] Sun Tiantian Retires

I saw her win one of her earlier ITF doubles titles back in January 2002 in a $10k in Hull, when partnered with Jie Zheng, they beat Claire Curran (who's recently had her first baby) and Elsa O'Riain...

No 2010 WTA media guide / yearbook

Having received the latest brochure from the Tennis Gallery bookshop in Wimbledon, decided to ring them up to order the ATP / WTA media guide for 2010 (normally delivered in January). Unfortunately,...

Re: Wickmayer and Malisse to appear "to be heard" by the "Flemish Doping Court"

I think this is actually why Christina Ohorogou (sorry if the spelling's wrong) the British athlete was banned, because she flouted this rule. There was certainly no evidence she had ever taken drugs.

Re: Grunts you like, and grunts you don't like...

 This thread reminds me of one evening at Wimbledon (might have been the first Friday) in June this year. I was standing between courts 4 and 5. There was a group of Americans (early 20s, mixed...

Re: Athens ITF Main Draw - sixteen TOP 100 players in

Has Greece ever held a WTA or ATP tournament? I can't remember any. I guess you could say it doesn't have many decent players, but then Qatar and UAE have even less!

Re: WTA 2010 Calendar-Probably Not Definite Though...

So, looking at my calendar, the bank holiday in the UK will now be at the start of week 2 of Roland Garros, rather than week 1 like it normally is. Might be interested in going to that Copenhagen...

Re: Which player would make the best tennis instructor?

Sam Stosur. I think she'd have a great attitude for it, and she'll obviously have learnt so much from David Taylor. I think it helps if you're good at doubles and singles to become a good coach.

Re: What happened to these players?

Amber Liu went to Stanford university, and I don't think she ever came back to full-time tennis after that.
A bit off-topic, but since we're discussing retired players, at Wimbledon recently I...

Re: Who is this player? - Roland Garros practice photo

Thanks, that's great! It's easy to work out who's who on the match courts, but you do come across a few players you don't recognise in practice.

Who is this player? - Roland Garros practice photo

Sorry to post this in general rather than French open, but I suspect it wouldn't get noticed there now! I'm currently in the process of cropping, rotating and renaming my Roland Garros photos. This...
