Re: Venus says the "R" word

I hope Venus doesnt retire until she has won 10 slams. She deserves atleast that given her talent. I believe she has another 3 slams in her, if she can stay healthy and fit.

Re: Who is greater right now, Victoria Azarenka or Svetlana Kuznetsova?

It is hard to say if Azarenka will win a slam in 2013. It depends mostly on Serena. Serena in theory should win all the slams, especialy the 3 non clay ones. However if she falters, either the...

Re: Who is greater right now, Victoria Azarenka or Svetlana Kuznetsova?

The #1 ranking in the post divisor system era has lost alot of lustre. Wozniacki ending two straight years at #1 proves it. The #1 ranking is a more meaninful achievement when it comes with big...

Re: Who is greater right now, Victoria Azarenka or Svetlana Kuznetsova?

Your last statement is doubtful at best. I am not sure if Azarenka was ever really considered the best player in the World. Even after the Australian Open, many probably felt either Kvitova or...

Re: Brisbane R2: Victoria Azarenka def. Sabine Lisicki 6-3 / 6-3

Absolutely nobody would be the answer. Azarenka had set point to go to a 3rd set with an insanely well playing and record ace setting Serena, who probably would have beaten an error spraying ball...

Re: 2013 Bold Predictions from ESPN's Ravi Ubha

1. Serena will likely win 3 slams and regain number 1. So he is wrong.
2. Definitely wrong.
3. Probably wrong.
4. Could be right.
5. I think we will atleast see another flukish finalist, even...

Re: Which player do you miss most?

I guess of that list I would say Henin and Dementieva, but seriously none of those women on the list would be playing prime level tennis at this point, only special gods like Serena play their best...

Re: Which player do you miss most?

Hingis came back at 25 and wasnt even close to winning a slam in her 2 years back, reached a few quarterfinals, why on earth would you assume a 30 something Hingis who would have played 2 or 3 years...

Re: Brisbane R2: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova d. [6] Petra Kvitova 6-4 7-5

Errani, Wozniacki, Kvitova, and Stosur all losing early in their first tournaments. Great start to the year. The thrash is being swept away, and hopefully will continue throughout the year.

Re: Brisbane R2: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova d. [6] Petra Kvitova 6-4 7-5

Pretty much. Wouldnt shock me if Petras career from here ended up entering trainwreck mode ala a couple fellow brainless ball bashers of old, Lucic and Vaidisova. Oh well even if it does, atleast...

Re: Greatest Player Ever!

I agree on all of that and I think if Seles in her prime and earlier in her career faced more of the really big servers like the Williams era she would have adapted to them as well. Actually she...

Re: Greatest Player Ever!

First serve- Serena (but you couldnt go wrong with Venus either)
Second serve- Serena
Inside Out forehand- Graf
Down the line forehand- Graf
Crosscourt or running forehands- Serena
Crosscourt...

Re: WWW Brisbane R2: Victoria Azarenka vs. Sabine Lisicki

Only on grass would I see Lisicki having a fighting chance in this matchup, especialy as she seems to have made no forward progress at all since her breakthrough in mid 2011. Azarenka in 2.

Re: 2002 Serena vs 2012 Serena

moby does make a good point come to think of it. Serena of 2002 almost certainly wouldnt go 3 sets in slam finals with Radwanska, or nearly lose a slam final to Azarenka. So maybe it is more...

Re: Hopman Cup RR: Ana Ivanovic (SRB) d. Francesca Schiavone (ITA) 6-0 6-4

I was baffled she is still out there, but you are right, that must be the reason.

Re: 2002 Serena vs 2012 Serena

I picked 2002 Serena but I think it would be a closer match than many thing. Serena`s serve is better than ever, she continues to take womens serving to new and never seen before heights. Serena...

Re: Serena Williams Vs Petra Kvitova. Who has more dominant game ?

if she lost weight it would help. She will never a speed demon, but her plunging fitness relative to 2011 is glaring.

Re: Serena Williams Vs Petra Kvitova. Who has more dominant game ?

Kvitova in good form cant even handle Sharapova, the same Sharapova who Serena crushes repeatedly at will, so how can you even compare Petra to Serena right now.

Re: Let's talk about the Kvitova-Sharapova rivalry.

Yes you are right on that I agree. She always gets zoned and plays her A+ game against poor Maria for whatever reason (matchup, personal motivation, psychology that stems from past matches,...

Re: "Sam Stosur has the greatest women’s second serve of all time" - Steve Flink

Sam Stosur doesnt have the best anything of all time, except the best Roland McDonald impersonation with those ghastly post U.S Open title photos she took.

Re: Let's talk about the Kvitova-Sharapova rivalry.

Petra is fat, lazy, makes ton of unforced errors, and is weak mentally. That fortells alot of bad years if one considers 2011 a bad year for her. In her best year ever she couldnt even beat out a...

Re: Let's talk about the Kvitova-Sharapova rivalry.

Boring. Kvitova has become a non factor and has no intersting rivalries with any of the top players right now. She needs to step it up to create a real rivalry with even Sharapova at this point.

Re: How would Azarenka have matched up against Venus?

Exactly. Peak Venus was clearly from 2000-2003 so why would one of her best performances since 2003 even matter, even if that were true. It is like saying one of Azarenkas best performances...

Re: How would Azarenka have matched up against Venus?

The question is whether Azarenka is any better than a non prime Henin, Seles, Clijsters, and Serena. Although we will never know for sure I suspect the answer is probably no for the majority of...
