On what basis are you saying that Saisai would have won two games and get it back to 5-5? It's not like Jo wasn't breaking her serve pretty easily!

Re: AO R2: (Q) Naomi Osaka upsets (18) Elina Svitolina 6-4 6-4

I'm going bold. There's something about her. Future world No.1.

She's solid all round and most importantly she's got great mental confidence - which is more often than not the difference.

Re: AO 2R: Konta def Zheng 6-2, 6-3

She should win third round whether it's Allertova or Lisicki.

Re: 25K Wesley Chapel Q1 : Neel def. Robson 6-1 3-6 6-3

I've always thought Watson is the better player. Just because Robson can hit the ball harder doesn't make her better. Her movement has always been pretty poor and in this day and age you don't get...

Re: First day has gone and 7 seeded + AO ex-finalist Cibulkova are out of AO already!

None of the losses were top 10 seeds were they? Most slams lose at least one of them in the first round. I don't think these results are particularly shocking.

Re: who disappointed you the most in this first day?

Watson - not because I'm disappointed with her play (I think she played pretty well actually) - just that I know she has a decent slam in her and it's not happening yet and she really needs to prove...

Re: AO R1: Timea Babos shuts down Heather Watson and British army 6-7,7-5,7-5

Actually four of them went to the wire, but she won the Gavrilova and Niculescu ones before anyone comes in and says she always flops when it gets tight...!

Re: AO R1: Timea Babos shuts down Heather Watson and British army 6-7,7-5,7-5

Wow the haters are truly out in force today. This was a top quality match from what I saw of it from two players who are very much on form at the moment.

Heather has a 4-3 record so far this year...

Re: Hobart QF: Larsson def. Watson 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at 2:02am

Heather was playing so much better than Larrsson from 4-1 down in the third set. Really thought she'd squeak it out once she got to 4-4. Hope she uses the break between now and the Aussie open to...

Re: Hobart R1: Defending champ Watson d. Pereira 6-3 6-0

Fair enough but pleased to see Heather winning it with such apparent ease once she got through some early nerves which I'm sure were partly to do with defending the title.

She's now won 12...

Hobart R1: Defending champ Watson d. Pereira 6-3 6-0

No one has posted this yet! Another great result for Watson: 3 top 50 scalps in a row for her.

Fingers crossed for a deep run here again to protect most of those points from last year.

Re: Hopman Cup: Heather Watson def Sabine Lisicki 6-3 6-4

Heather played great on serve. She won 93% of first serves in the first set...!! Really impressed with her form and resilience at the moment.

Lisicki played an absolute shocker of a game from 40-0...

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Heather defends her title having watched her matches in Perth this week.

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 91

Those five points Lisicki lost from 40-0 up were an absolute joke. The attempted drop shot, that ridiculous drive volley, the shot that went wide, the double fault... Terrible.

Yeah I think it's Wozniacki's tournament. Whilst Naomi played above her level today, if her serve had been on she'd have probably beaten Sloane, which isn't exactly a huge statement of Sloane's form.

Re: Auckland QF: Stephens (5) def. Broady 7-6(6) 6-3

I think you have to look at the balance of probabilities with Naomi's backhand. She hit slightly more unforced errors off of it than she did winners today, but when she got the winners in the...

Re: YEC RR: A. Radwanska def. Halep 7:6(5) 6:1

Aga's down the line has improved beyond belief. She's never played so aggressively. Stop calling her a pusher - did you actually watch the match?

Great match up to 1-1 in the second set, then...
