Re: Lock up your sons: Naomi Broady wins 100K Midland def Robin Anderson 6-7(6) 6-0 6

Really pleased for Naomi and great to see her in the top 100. She's had a very good last six months.

On the other hand strange she's looking like getting direct entry to French Open main draw,...

Re: Where can Aga/Caro/Simona go from here, now that Angie is a GS winner?

Although it is true Serena's serve was off today and made more errors than usual, Angie's core strength and leg strength is just so much better than those three so physically she has a better chance....

Re: AO:3R: (12) ALG/CoCo V fight past Barbie/Lucic: 7/6(5) 3/6 6/3

Barbora generally has the best doubles skills out of these four but in this match it was her serve that cost her team the match, I think she held serve 2-3 times the whole match and was broken to...

Re: AO R2 Lucic/Strycova school Atawo/Spears 6-7 6-1 6-2

They're in a tough part of the draw and it's just a temporary pairing at this point for this tournament due to Misa's injury, but this potentially is a good pairing. Mirjana's power with Barbora's...

Re: WWW Australian Open?

It's good for Garcia/Mladenovic that they potentially play Hingis/Mirza in semis and not final. These are the only two pairs I can see winning the title. Though the French girls would be tight in...

Re: AO 2016 Qualifier Placement - Who will win R1?

It's a step up in level for sure to play Carla but Golubic has started the year very well and if CSN is napping she could have her hands full. All the qualifiers have the potential to trouble their...

Re: AO 1st Round: Errani vs Gasparyan

Errani takes this fairly comfortably I think.

Re: Sydney R1: Hingis/Mirza def. Rodionova/Rodionova 6-2 6-3

Just another 82 wins to go before they equal Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver's 109 match winning streak in doubles.

Ostapenko generally has a horrible attitude...

Ostapenko generally has a horrible attitude unless she is winning comfortably, needs to grow up. Several players have commented on it and I see on Twitter others are backing Broady which says a lot.

Re: If Pova ends her career with 7 slams, will she be greater than Henin and Venus?

No Venus' Olympic gold medals, doubles slam titles, plus slam runners up positions etc set her apart from Sharapova. I would say it would take her past Henin (only problem being Henin was actually...

Re: Hingis/Mirza vs S.Williams/V.Williams?

If Serena and Venus are focussed on playing the doubles and not inwardly concerned about how it might affect a deep run in slam singles then they overwhelm these two in straight sets. If they're not...

Re: Karolina Pliskova is overrated lots to prove

I think she's already playing way better than most expected a few years ago. She still has loads to improve but her results on the regular tour will be giving her more confidence. The original post...

Re: Doubles Race to 2016 Rio Olympics - After Singapore (Hingis & Mirza Q for Rio)

Absolutely, with their Olympic history you find a way of getting them on, though I'm sure Venus will keep her ranking sufficiently high provided she has no health or injury problems. If they found a...

Re: WWW Zhuhai F & YE Top 10: Venus Williams vs Karolina Pliskova

Both are playing well, Pliskova is serving strongly, so Venus will need to look after her own serve. However, Pliskova has played three players who are renouned more for consistency than power so...

Re: Lux F: Misaki Doi wins 1st title def Mona Barthel 6-4, 6-7, 6-0

Deserved win for Doi. Barthel's lack of fight in 3rd set was shocking. She's supposed to be a pro athlete.

Re: Hongkong R1 (3)Venus Williams won last 3 games def (LL)Yuliya Beygelzimer 2-6 6-4

Relieved Venus won through in the end. The last time I saw Beygelzimer play was when she pushed Capriati 6-2 4-6 6-4 in the 1st round of the French Open 2004 and was 3-0 up in the final set...

Re: The outburst of Hingis...

Unfortunately outside the grand slams yes. It's really cheapened the event along with the champion's tiebreak.

Re: How far will Hingis go at Tianjin?

She trains as a pro athlete so will not be anywhere close to exhausted from playing 3-4 no ad two set doubles matches.

Those stats you produce suggest Caroline but the slam results and prize money indicate Vika had a better year, she played Serena and Maria a combined five times (I think) which didn't help.

Re: Will Venus Williams ever win a singles title at a Major again?

I definitely think the way she can play is still good enough to grab a slam title in this field. It's dependent on draw, scheduling and her health of course so nothing is a given. She was very...

Re: Should A WTA Employee (COURTNEY) Be Allowed To Tweet THIS?

She can think what she wants but it's unprofessional and childish for sure if not overtly negative. You can't put work related shade out there publically and WTA is no different. If I wrote...

Re: Quebec F: Beck def. Ostapenko 6-2, 6-2

Great week for Beck, seems like a nice girl. The Beck v Lucic-Baroni match was the real final here. Good week for Ostapenko though she is extremely ungracious when she loses. Needs to grow up a bit....

Quebec City QF : Naomi Broady (LL) d. Anna Tatishvili 3-6 7-5 6-3

First WTA semi for Naomi, good effort. This was a battle between two players who received plenty of good fortune at this tournament. Anna's racket throwing and high pitched complaining was a tad...

Re: Quebec R16: Krejcikova/Mestach d. Hradecka/Lucic 75 63

Think Hlavackova just wanted to play singles and Lucie and Miki decided to try and defend their title from her last year. This was probably their weakest performance together.
