Re: Venus Williams : I really want to be in Tokyo 2020!

I mean she qualified more qualified more comfortably for Rio than she did for London, so why not? Haha

Re: MTO + bathroom breaks = hitting partner of opponent can come out and hit?

One of the funniest things I've ever seen on a tennis court was at the 2012 US Open. Lisicki and Peng were playing doubles, and after they lost the second set to Makarova/Vesnina, they took a...

Re: Cincinnati QR2 Flink d. Doi 0-6 7-6 6-4

Great to see her capitalizing on this WC. She has been kicking butt in challengers, so it's nice to see where her game stacks up against top 100 players. It would be awesome if she could snag a win...

Re: Rio Olympics F: Mattek-Sands/Sock (USA) d. Venus/Ram (USA) 6-7 6-1 10-7 ! win Gol

Did Ram tighten up at the end? Sure, but like someone else said, he also kept them in the match in the first round, and without that, Venus wouldn't have a medal of any color.

I would have loved...

Re: Any WTA players staying until after closing ceremony of Rio Olympics '16?

Venus and Serena were planning to stay originally, as they have never attended the closing ceremonies before. Obviously Serena didn't, but it will be interesting to see if Venus sticks around.

Re: Rio XD SF: Venus/Ram def. Mirza/Bopanna 6/2, 2/6, [10-3]

This is the happiest thread I've ever seen on TF.

We Venus fans are SO LUCKY. From 1994-2016 and counting, this woman continues to perform with passion, grace, and sportsmanship. She has nothing...

Re: Rio XD SF: Venus/Ram def. Mirza/Bopanna 6/2, 2/6, [10-3]

Also, you might want to update the score in the title to 2-6 6-2 10-3 :)

Re: Rio XD SF: Venus/Ram def. Mirza/Bopanna 6/2, 2/6, [10-3]

I haven't seen her that excited/stunned since Wimbledon '05. That was absolutely joyful to watch.

They stepped up their game in a MAJOR way when they broke Mirza for 3-1 in the second. Ram played...

Re: Rio XD QF: Venus/Ram def. Vinci/Fognini 6/3, 7/5

Major choke/tightness in the second set, but they pulled it out! I think their toughest match is next, but I am just so glad that Venus is getting a little bit of redemption this week! Keep it going,...

Re: Rio Olympics SF: Puig def. Kvitova 64 16 63

Athletes often talk about the Olympics being "bigger than them," and that is exactly what Monica represents. With all of the pre-tournament drama and withdrawals coupled with top players turning in...

Nadal in bad shape? Have you watched his singles and doubles here? He is playing quite well.

Re: Montreal R1: Niculescu humiliates Ostapenko 3:6 7:5 6:1

Nothing about Ostapenko's recent losses has been more entertaining than Hugues Daniel's desperate attempts at defending her childish attitude and messy play.

Stanford SF: Venus Williams (1) d. Alison Riske 6-1 7-6(1)

Fantastic first set from Venus with great serving and ball striking, although Alison was hopeless until she was down 5-0.

The second set was much more competitive. Venus served for it at 5-4 and...

Re: Stanford r1: Bellis def Ostapenko 6-4 6-4

Dude, are you blind? The handshake is about showing respect to your opponent, which there was none of from Ostapenko.

Here are the quotes you asked for: News | WTA Tennis English...

Re: Stanford r1: Bellis def Ostapenko 6-4 6-4

She mutters, grimaces, and looks generally miserable to be out there. Then she ended with without even attempting to make eye contact during the handshake. That constitutes a poor attitude to me.

Stanford 1R: Vickery (Q) d. Kostova (Q) 6-1 6-2

Very solid win for Sachia taking advantage of a good draw to get some nice points! She and Cici actually play quite similarly, great opportunity for each girl to reach a Premier QF.

Re: Stanford r1: Bellis def Ostapenko 6-4 6-4

LOL Jelena blamed the balls and the conditions for her loss.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more perfect place to play tennis than Palo Alto in the summer. What a sore loser.

Re: Stanford r1: Bellis def Ostapenko 6-4 6-4

She played a smart match, keeping the ball deep and down the middle, but Jelena was HORRIBLE with 38 errors (including 9 DF), and it goes without saying that her attitude was piss poor.

Great to...

Re: Richard Williams suffered from stroke

He was in Serena's snapchat story the other night, so she is clearly home spending time with him.

I'm sure he would have hated more than anything for the girls to withdraw to come home. I can only...

Re: Stockton 50K R1 Gibbs d. Wozniak 5-7 6-4 7-5

Nice warm-up for Stanford next week, which is just about an hour away from Stockton and a very important tournament for Nicole, as it takes place at the school she attended for three years.

Re: Winnipeg 25K R1 (q) USC Jessica Failla d. (1) Glushko 6-3 3-6 6-4

She also usually played #5 for USC this year and didn't even have the greatest year, but she has had a very impressive summer so far, winning a weak $10K in Canada and now this. Keep it up!

Re: Wimbledon QF: (5)Babos/Shvedova (HUN/KAZ) d. (1)Hingis/Mirza (SUI/IND) 62 64

As amazing as Martina's doubles instincts, movement, and volleys are, her serve and groundstrokes still leave her susceptible to being overpowered, especially when Mirza is off, like she was today...
