Re: AO F: Santina def. Hlavackova/Hradecka 76(1) 63

Congrats to Hingis and Mirza!

That first set was nerve-wracking! I don't think I've seen so many breaks of serve in one set.

But thats the one thing that really sets Santina apart from the rest...

Re: Sydney Double F Hingis/Mirza 'miracle comeback' def Garcia/Mladenovic 1-6 7-5 10-

I know that and I believe I acknowledged that in my first post.

And by the way, I'm a guy :)

Re: Sydney Double F Hingis/Mirza 'miracle comeback' def Garcia/Mladenovic 1-6 7-5 10-

Around 160km? No way.

And besides, who cares if her serve is better than Errani's, it doesn't change the fact that it is easily attackable. It just sits up, waiting to be punished.

If she could...

Re: Sydney Double F Hingis/Mirza 'miracle comeback' def Garcia/Mladenovic 1-6 7-5 10-

Wow. As much as I love Hingis and Mirza, they were very very lucky to have won this.

And as much as people like to criticise Mirza, Hingis IMHO is the weakest link. She's brilliant at net and can...

Re: Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis equal record for most wins in a row since 1994

Novotna and Sukova won 44 consecutive matches together.

Re: Hingis/Mirza vs S.Williams/V.Williams?

If they were all playing at their best, it could go either way tbh.

Re: Halep vs Hingis ? What would this be like ?

I honestly don't understand why people compare hingis and radwanska.....they play nothing alike.

Re: Which defunct Tennis tournament would you bring back to the WTA? And why?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the grand slam cup. Loved the speed of the court!

Re: Former World no.1 Martina Hingis could return to play in singles!

I always felt Melanie was part of the problem - she was overbearing and far more ambitious than Martina ever was. Their relationship did break down a couple of times. And I think she's partly to...

Re: Former World no.1 Martina Hingis could return to play in singles!

Infiniti2001, you have to admit there is an element of truth to what Nicolas89 said. Hingis always had a tough time against Serena, but she absolutely loved playing against Venus. And please don't...

Re: AO R2: (4) Hingis/Pennetta def. Hantuchova/Knapp 6-3 6-7(5) 6-2

Glad Hingis and Pennetta were able to pull through.

An extremely entertaining match with some awesome points - my favourite being Hingis' backhand down the line, around the post winner. Brought...

Re: After Serena WILLIAMS, who has the most beautiful serve?

If your talking beauty as in effectiveness, then hands down Serena. If your talking in terms of aesthetics, then that's completely subjective. I've always loved hingis' serve - very smooth and...

Re: Venus most memorable match?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned her match against hingis at wimbledon in 2000. I just love the contrast in styles and the rallies were absolutely amazing...clay court tennis on a grass court is...

Re: Martina Hingis at 2 weeks from being surpassed by Serena in weeks at #1

Honestly who cares? We should all be appreciative - its this trash-talking that made women's tennis those days so interesting. It was the golden age imho.

Re: Maria Sharapova is the Queen of Clay - Martina Hingis

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Hingis has no reason to be jealous of Serena. The thing is, I think Hingis sees herself as a better player than Sharapova or better clay-courter, and...

Re: Who is greater now, Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis?

Agreed, although hingis was flat in that match. Do you still have that autograph ball btw?!?! I lost my chandra rubin autograph which I got when I saw her at an airport back in the 90s :(

Re: Who is greater now, Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis?

I dont know about the 2000 Australian open - Davenport was playing extremely well. Hingis played stupidly, by trying to beat davenport at her own game - it was never going to happen. She became more...

Re: Who is greater now, Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis?

Hingis actually had a decent serve - better motion than henin's. She just lacked racqued head speed. Early on in her career she actually went for it, like in this one match against Davenport she...

Re: How would Sharapova have matched up against Hingis?

Thats still pretty close when you take into account what a bad match-up lindsay was for hingis. Also, IIRC, some of their matches were played when hingis was 14/15 years old. Pretty long rivarly!

Re: How would Sharapova have matched up against Hingis?

Tough question. I'd say hingis would have the advantage - sharapova is too linear and one-dimentional. Hingis only really had issues with serena and lindsay - they were both very consistent,...

Re: BOMBSHELL: Hingis playing singles in the fall?!

True...but that us open match wasnt too bad. Its just that god damn serve of her's that kills her. Shes got a great return game and did a good job to win 2 games considering serena served 100% of...

Re: Peak Hingis vs Peak Radwanska

Serena would obviously win the majority of the matches if they were to play each other at their peaks. But you gotta take into account the surface. On grass serena would kill her but everywhere else...

Re: Martina Hingis' "Genius Game"?

TBH, I think the whole power players thing is a it of a misconception. They were the onoly players capable of beating her but she didnt struggle against them as much as people say she did. The only 2...

Re: Hingis - Compare Radwanska to me when she's won a slam

I'm not so sure about this. The h2h would have been a hell of a lot closer but I think hingis was just naturally a bad match-up. Even at her peak, seles wasn't that great a mover and her serve wasn't...

Re: Best Backhand of ALL-TIME?? (Poll included!)

Over hingis? I'm not so sure...she had an awesome backhand. She could do anything with it :)
