Re: Cincy QF: Sharapova survives Bartoli 6-1 6-4

Good that Maria has been picking up her game so well.

Keep it going. Rotten scheduling again though. Night match semis just before day finals should be banned.

Re: Pusher over Serena on Centre in front of the Queen?

The Queen will probably be having tea during the Wozza match. May come baack again to see Nadal. I wouldn't be surprised if she met some of the top players before the Murray match.

Murray is the...

Re: Wimbledon R1: Maria Sharapova b. Anastasia Pivovarova 61 60

None of us can tell when Maria gets back to tip-top form. We-re not crystal-ball gazers. Recent signs have looked good, though for her getting there soon - but nothing is guaranteed..

Re: Annabel Croft: Open mouth, Insert Foot

I think she was referring more to the lack of fight and hunger in British girls.

This is true, since working class girls have few opportunities or ambitions in tennis (booze and pop culture win...

Re: BOMBSHELL!!!! Nadia Petrova hits 144 mph serve.

Masha was cautious about the 121 she scored at Birmingham, even though she served 118 in France.

As for Perova, guns do misregister, (sometimes they show 1st serves as 60mph) so incredible results...

Re: Sharapova - really not going to win Wimbledon

It's all about Belief a t the moment, as I see it. She's got the shots and the fitness back in recent matches. It's just regaining the self-belief to close out the big matches. Hope she does so.

Re: Do you want the WTA to go back to Tier system.

I don't suppose Tournaments wish to be known as lesser events. hence the elimination of Tiers, 2,3,4 etc. Its much better to publicise an "International" WTA tournament tan a "Tier 3" WTA event.

Re: John Isner Says ATP #800 Could Beat WTA #1

Still. All I see is boasting.

The matches just aren't there. The idea that women aren't stron - or can't run Marathons etc., get exploded regularly. Of course top men will beat the top women. yet...

Re: John Isner Says ATP #800 Could Beat WTA #1

You get a lot of this boasting from the ATP and its hangers-on, yet a lot fewer male players actually come forward to take a challenge. And generally tthe male players are more reluctant than the...

I didn't see the second set (recorder malfunction), but the first set was clearly LOST by Sam throgh nerves, DF, missed forehands and first serves etc.

This rather goes against Volcana's...

Re: Jankovic: "she kind of has like almost the game of a man"

Sour grapes are in season. :p

If she wants to say Sam is well-conditioned and plays with a lot of power and heavy spin - she can say so.

Saying "plays like a man" is clearly an attempt to...

Re: Will Stosur begin to dominate other players on tour?

Those who do well at RG don't always prosper as much elsewhere

We would have to see how this game transfers to other surfaces. Grass neutralises spin more. The hard courts may offer scope for her.
